Russell&#039;s younger brother. He was uncomfortable with fraudulently posing as the Elric Brothers, and was disturbed by the side effects of the Red Water. While the other brothers Russell and Edward fought, Fletcher and Al became friendly, and Fletcher eventually helps convince Russell to not fight the Elric Brothers. The Tringum Brothers specialized in alchemy dealing with plant life. Sony&#039;s Aniplex anime DVDs spell his family name as Tringum, although Sony&#039;s Aniplex website spells his name as Tlingum. FUNimation&#039;s anime DVDs spell his family name as Tringham.    Fletcher and his brother had a small, albeit crucial role in &quot;Goodbye&quot; and &quot;The Other Side Of the Gate,&quot; where they were almost executed for being the Elrics, before informing Ed of the existence of the Underground City.

The rules of alchemy state that to gain something, one must lose something of equal value. Alchemy is the process of taking apart and reconstructing an object into a different entity, with the rules of alchemy to govern this procedure. However, there exists an object that can bring any alchemist above these rules, the object known as the Philosopher's Stone. The young Edward Elric is a particularly talented alchemist who through an accident years back lost his younger brother Alphonse and one of his legs. Sacrificing one of his arms as well, he used alchemy to bind his brother's soul to a suit of armor. This lead to the beginning of their journey to restore their bodies, in search for the legendary Philosopher's Stone.
