Alphonse Elric is a fictional character in the manga and anime series Fullmetal Alchemist. He is a human child who lost his body during a forbidden alchemical transmutation to bring his deceased mother back to life, and had his soul transmuted into a suit of armor by his brother, Edward Elric. 

Al's blood seal lies just below the base of the neck at the back of the suit, on the inside. It is drawn with Ed's blood. According to Edward, he needs to be careful whenever he reconstructs Alphonse's body because he must keep the blood seal intact during the transmutation. If the blood seal is removed, Al's soul will be lost.

Alchemy is bound by this Law of Equivalent Exchange—something the young brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric only realize after attempting human transmutation: the one forbidden act of alchemy. They pay a terrible price for their transgression—Edward loses his left leg, Alphonse his physical body. It is only by the desperate sacrifice of Edward's right arm that he is able to affix Alphonse's soul to a suit of armor. Devastated and alone, it is the hope that they would both eventually return to their original bodies that gives Edward the inspiration to obtain metal limbs called "automail" and become a state alchemist, the Fullmetal Alchemist.
 
Three years of searching later, the brothers seek the Philosopher's Stone, a mythical relic that allows an alchemist to overcome the Law of Equivalent Exchange. Even with military allies Colonel Roy Mustang, Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, and Lieutenant Colonel Maes Hughes on their side, the brothers find themselves caught up in a nationwide conspiracy that leads them not only to the true nature of the elusive Philosopher's Stone, but their country's murky history as well. In between finding a serial killer and racing against time, Edward and Alphonse must ask themselves if what they are doing will make them human again... or take away their humanity.

The rules of alchemy state that to gain something, one must lose something of equal value. Alchemy is the process of taking apart and reconstructing an object into a different entity, with the rules of alchemy to govern this procedure. However, there exists an object that can bring any alchemist above these rules, the object known as the Philosopher's Stone. The young Edward Elric is a particularly talented alchemist who through an accident years back lost his younger brother Alphonse and one of his legs. Sacrificing one of his arms as well, he used alchemy to bind his brother's soul to a suit of armor. This lead to the beginning of their journey to restore their bodies, in search for the legendary Philosopher's Stone.

Aaron is an American voice actor who works for anime series of Funimation Entertainment.  He started voice acting when he was nine years old as the voice of Hiro Sohma and the young Akito Sohma in Fruits Basket. He was only twelve years old when he voiced the role of Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist, and is a cousin of voice actor and director Justin Cook. Aaron was one of few child voice actors in the voice acting field.  Due to his voice maturing, he was replaced by Maxey Whitehead for his role of Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but makes a cameo as the voice of the young Van Hohenheim, Edward and Alphonse's father.

1. The Blind Alchemist (盲目の錬金術師, Moumoku no Renkinjutsushi) 
Based on a side story of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga published in the Fullmetal Alchemist Perfect Guidebook (2003). It's about a blind alchemist named Jude, who serves the Humbergang family. He once violated the taboo of Alchemy. 
 
2. Simple People (シンプルな人々, Simple na Hitobito) 
A story about Riza (why she let her hair grow longer) and Winry (why she had her ears pierced and how she got her earrings). 
 
3. The Tale of Teacher (師匠物語, Sensei Monogatari) 
Based on a side story of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga, the third OVA is about Edward and Alphonse's teacher, Izumi Curtis. The story is compiled of two parts. The first part shows how Izumi survived in Mt. Briggs to become an apprentice of a renowned alchemist. The second part shows how Izumi and Sig met and their love at first sight. 
 
4. Yet Another Man's Battlefield (それもまた彼の戦場, Sore mo mata Kare no Senjou) 
The story centres around Roy, aged 18, in a military boot camp, how he met an Ishbalan recruit named Heathcliffe Arbor, how he became a friendly rival to Hughes.

 The novel was adapted into an anime in 2003 with episodes 11, 12 (main story) and 37 (bonus story).

A 12 year old Edward has just passed the State Alchemist exam and is congratulated by military members. He then departs with Alphonse on their journey. Elsewhere, Shou Tucker has failed the exam, but will try again next year. 

 
Note: Hagane no Renkinjutsushi 0 is a special manga drawn as a bonus for theatergoers for the Hagane no Renkinjutsushi live-action film.

To mark the July 2 opening of the Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos film, the Pia Eiga Seikatsu website posted an exclusive video "interview" with the stars of the film, Edward and Alphonse Elric (as voiced by Romi Park and Rie Kugimiya, respectively). In keeping with the spirit of Hiromu Arakawa's original manga and the two television anime, the interviewer has trouble early on in figuring out who the "Fullmetal Alchemist" is. (The interview has cameos by the other stars of the anime.) Also includes 3 "Study" sessions with "Professor" Mustang, teaching Winry and Hawkeye about Creta and Milos.
