He is a hard worker who continuously trains, but he seemingly harbors jealousy for Ōharano who handles anything with great skill. Kanbara noted that although he himself did not play, he went to support his school's team during his college days.

Gion Kenji is short and perpetually pissed off about it. Iwashimizu Sumiaki is tall but timid. Although it's bullies that bring this unlikely pair together on the first day of high school, it's the rugby club that will make them friends.
