Chrome is the alleged sorcerer - eventually turned scientist - of Ishigami Village. As part of the Kingdom of Science, Chrome serves as the unofficial right hand of Senku; this trust is what makes him one of the Five Wise Generals.

Chrome is a highly energetic person with a lot of passion and curiosity. He is genuinely interested in science, although at first, he only knows it as sorcery. He is confident in his intellect, enough so to go toe to toe with Senku despite getting destroyed in a battle of wits. He also has a tendency to refer to something as "bad" when he thinks it is cool or amazing. Chrome has a deep love of science, though he admits his expertise and knowledge lies mainly in exploration, particularly pertaining to rocks and minerals and gathering them.

He is loyal and selfless to his friends and, while lacking in physical abilities, he is still able to think of clever solutions out of dangerous situations. He is also exceedingly brave, and in addition, while he is usually a loudmouth, he knows when to keep his mouth shut. He loves science and, in many ways, is an accomplished scientist in his own right, managing to create chemical reactions from the rocks he collected through frequent trial and error (reactions which were only made known in the seventeenth century), despite never knowing this knowledge before Senku's arrival.

After five years of harboring unspoken feelings, high-schooler Taiju Ooki is finally ready to confess his love to Yuzuriha Ogawa. Just when Taiju begins his confession however, a blinding green light strikes the Earth and petrifies mankind around the world— turning every single human into stone.
 
Several millennia later, Taiju awakens to find the modern world completely nonexistent, as nature has flourished in the years humanity stood still. Among a stone world of statues, Taiju encounters one other living human: his science-loving friend Senkuu, who has been active for a few months. Taiju learns that Senkuu has developed a grand scheme—to launch the complete revival of civilization with science. Taiju's brawn and Senkuu's brains combine to forge a formidable partnership, and they soon uncover a method to revive those petrified.
 
However, Senkuu's master plan is threatened when his ideologies are challenged by those who awaken. All the while, the reason for mankind's petrification remains unknown.

Years ago, astronaut Byakuya left behind precious materials in the belief that his son, the scientifically-gifted Senkuu, would one day find them. In the present, the Kingdom of Science's Kohaku and Ginrou have infiltrated the harem of the Petrification Kingdom’s leader with the help of Amaryllis, a local girl. At first, their mission progresses without a hitch. Unfortunately, an error enacted by Kohaku and Ginrou leads Minister Ibara and the Island’s strongest warrior, Moz, to identify the intruding duo as enemies.
 
Even worse, Moz tails Amaryllis when she returns to inform Senkuu of the news, discovering the scientist's secret hideout. However, Moz's agenda does not align with Ibara's—he wants to dethrone the minister and keep the petrification device for himself. If Senkuu plays his cards right, he could gain a powerful ally and win the war once and for all.

One of the novel's stories takes place before the event that petrified humanity. It follows Senku during his high school days and centers on the science club's strategy to launch a rocket. Another story takes place after the human petrification and follows Chrome, Kohaku, and Suika. The three form a musical band and perform with handmade instruments. The book will also include special illustrations.
