Asirpa is an Ainu girl who finds [Sugimoto](https://anilist.co/character/124704/Sugimoto-Saichi) when he is attacked by a bear. Her father was one of the Ainu killed by the Japanese who stole the Ainu gold. Her Japanese name is Asuko Kochoube (小蝶辺明日子).

From a young age, Asirpa was trained by her father to become a hunter. As such, she possesses many skills that are necessary for a successful hunter: trapping, poison brewing, knowledge of traditional medicine, archery, deep knowledge of Hokkaido's flora and fauna, harsh winter survival. Asirpa is also a great cook and can prepare many traditional Ainu dishes from the animals she hunts, along with what she forages in the forest.

In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck—and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.

An American voice actress, ADR director, and script writer affiliated with Funimation and Seraphim Digital/Sentai Filmworks.

Monica's father is from Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain, and when she was young, her family would often visit there. She would translate for her younger brother some of the European Spanish-dubbed cartoons which included anime like Doraemon and Dragon Ball Z, often imitating the various characters. Monica studied ballet, tap, and jazz, but transitioned to musical theater when was 12. She studied acting through high school as well as college at the University of Houston. She's cited voice actor inspirations from The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Beavis and Butt-head. She was working on a theater show with Jason Douglas, who suggested she audition for ADV Films. Her first voice-over role was a walla in the 1999 dub of Martian Successor Nadesico.

As their party leaves the Russian territory, they gain a peculiar follower.
 
Meanwhile, Toshizou Hijikata's crew makes major moves to get invaluable skins, falling into the poisonous trap of a dangerous convict. Although each group possesses a strong advantage over the others, even First Lieutenant Tokushirou Tsurumi—the most powerful and ruthless contender—cannot advance without Asirpa's help. However, his ominous plans for when they will inevitably meet remain a mystery.

Note: On November 7, 2022, it was announced that the seventh episode of the season and beyond would be postponed due to the passing of a main staff member. The season restarted broadcasting from the first episode on April 3, 2023, with the seventh episode released on May 15.

"Barato no Yuujinbou" (The Bodyguard of Barato) depicts the battle in Barato. Hijikata and Nagakura sides with the Hidoro clan and get information about the tattoed convicts in the city. On the other hand, Ogata joins Kusuda Umakichi and threatens the police chief to join his cause.

OVAs bundled with the 17th, 19th, and 23rd tankoubon volumes of the Golden Kamuy manga.

These shorts revolve around Golden Kamuy's characters in a comedic light, with some shorts being direct adaptations of omake sections of the manga. Streamed on the official website and YouTube.
