Masaki Takigawa is a senior shrine priest at Yata Shrine and later becomes the coach for the Kazemai High School Kyudo Club. He holds a fifth dan rank in kyudo.

Masaki gives off the image of a mysterious, refined young man, but he is actually more laid-back and down-to-earth than he seems. He has the air of an old man despite his young age. He is noted to act roughly and sloppily in many things except in kyudo. He seems to dislike formality, asking everyone to call him "Masa-san" instead. He is friendly and good at explaining things, qualities that make him a good coach in the eyes of the members of the Kazemai kyudo club. He is also good at listening and giving advice, something he does with [Minato](https://anilist.co/character/128273/) frequently. He is not above speaking more vulgarly, such as when coaching Minato to overcome his hayake at the Yata no Mori Kyudojo.

Despite his easy-going nature, Masaki also has a more serious and stubborn side to him when it comes to kyudo and his grandfather.

Minato played Japanese archery in middle school, but after a certain incident, he ran away from the sport. In high school, Minato meets new friends, and together as part of their school's archery club they aim to win the prefectural tournament.

Minato’s return to archery may have helped Kazemai High’s Kyudo Club win a prefectural tournament, but it’s a poor bowman who expects an arrow to fly the same flight every time. With the entry of a radical new team, one of whose members is Minato’s former upperclassman, the old rivalry between Kazemai and Kirisaki becomes a triangle with the upstart team from Tsujimine as serious contenders. And even as the men’s team struggles to adjust to the new paradigm, competition doubles again as the Kazemai women’s team of Rika, Yuna, and Noa prepares to enter their first tourney as well!
