Soushun has a righteous personality, a high level of confidence in his friends, and is mentioned to be the type of person who would at least pretend to laugh no matter how bad the joke was. He was quite calm when Mukuro ordered him to kill his fellow student council members, mostly because he trusted them all not to kill each other. Soushun was also a good leader and very persuasive, being able to mitigate the building tension among his classmates until Karen Kisaragi snapped from Junko's "motivation" photo.

~!He and the rest of the council were forced into a killing game by Junko Enoshima and Mukuro Ikusaba, an event that would later become known as the The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.

He was the only survivor of the Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, along with Izuru. How he did so is unknown, but it's implied that he had hidden himself while the student council killed each other. During the incident, he sustained a head injury and fell in a comatose-like, unresponsive state, and a month later he was murdered by Yasuke Matsuda in order to keep him quiet about the culprit, Junko Enoshima.!~


Chisa Yukizome begins her job as homeroom teacher for Hope's Peak Academy's 77th Class of Ultmate students. Meanwhile, Hajime Hinata, a student of the school's Reserve Course for students without talent, prepares to undergo an experiment to make him the Ultimate Hope. What follows is a series of tragic events which lead to the birth of the Remnants of Despair and the realization of "The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History."

On September 12, 2022, it was revealed that he is married to the writer and former idol [Mariru Harada](https://anilist.co/staff/150544/Mariru-Harada), with whom he has a child.

The story revolves around the amnesiac girl Ryouko Otonashi, who is a student at Hope's Peak Academy, and the sharp-tongued Ultimate Neurologist Yasuke Matsuda, with whom she is infatuated. 
 
A month after The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, the school is full of unrest and secrets, with many people attempting to find out what truly happened and who is to blame. Despite not wanting any of it, Ryouko is connected to the incident and soon gets caught up in its aftermath, learning more and more about what happened.
