Torako&#039;s childhood friend. She is usually very quiet but possesses monstrous strength and immense apetite. Despite being very athletic, however, she is in distress for looking child-like and not feminine enough. Whenever Torako runs away from her home, Suzume always accompanies her. Her name contains a kanji of sparrow (雀, suzume?) and the first kanji letter of her name (早) is pronounced as &#039;Sa&#039; (South), thus revealing her name&#039;s relationship with Vermillion Bird of the South (朱雀). On their first day of high school shy Ayumi Nonomura and taciturn Tatsuki Iizuka become lost on the immense campus of Kamizono Academy. An irresistible force of nature named Torako Kageyama accompanied by her best friend Suzume Saotome appears in front of them. Led, sometimes pushed, by Torako, the girls and their classmates work through problems of school, home and adolescence.

She is an actress (under the name Yurika (友利花)), voice actress (until from 2000~2014), singer and a gravure idol. Her former stage name is Ochiai Yurika. She was originally working for Arts Vision, however, she quit in October 2006. From 2007 she worked for Genki Project, but moved to Intercept in December 2008.
