Crow Hogan is one of Yusei Fudo's close friends from Satellite and is also a D-Wheeler. Born in Satellite, Crow too lost his parents in the Zero Reverse accident that caused the split between Satellite and Neo-Domino City. He roamed around and took care of himself for the first couple of years of his life before he discovered Duel Monsters cards and making friends in the process, including Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlus. Later, he met and was good friends with Robert Pearson and Bolger until Pearson's death, when Crow later lost contact with Bolger. Not too long afterwards, Team Satisfaction - the dueling team founded and formed by Kiryu Kyosuke - was disbanded.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's is set in Neo Domino City some time after the events concerning Yugi Mutou (DM) and Judai Yuki (GX). A new form of dueling, "Riding Duels", now take place on motorcycles called "D-Wheels". While regular dueling still exists, Riding Duels have become a popular form of entertainment for spectators, who watch them in specially-designed stadiums.

Thanks to the Leo Corporation, headed by Reiji Akaba, new advancements to Solid Vision, the holographic system that gives life to the Duel Monsters card game, give physical mass to monsters and environments, allowing players to interact directly with them. This has given birth to challenging Action Duels, in which duelists may traverse environments to locate Action Cards to help them in a pinch. The story follows Yuya Sakaki, a second year middle school student at Miami City's You Show Duel School, whose father disappeared three years ago when he was scheduled for an important duel. While facing off against the current Action Duel champion, Yuya awakens a new power from his pendant, known as Pendulum Summoning.

While riding with Jack Atlas and Crow Hogan, Yusei Fudos's Stardust Dragon is captured by Paradox, a mysterious Turbo Duelist from the future, during a Turbo Duel and turned into a Sin Monster. With the help of the Crimson Dragon, Yusei chases after Paradox as he enters a time slip, ending up in the past. During this time, Paradox duels against Jaden Yuki, who is still able to use the powers of Yubel and The Supreme King. However, by this time Paradox had also captured Cyber End Dragon and Rainbow Dragon and overwhelms Jaden. He is saved thanks to Yusei and the Crimson Dragon. Jaden informs Yusei of Paradox's true intentions. By stealing various monsters from across time and turning them dark, he plans to kill Maximillion Pegasus, the creator of Duel Monsters, preventing the game from being created and causing the events of all three series to never happen. Yusei and Jaden agree to pursue Paradox, which leads them to the past and causes a meeting with the King of Games, Yugi Mutou. However, by the time Yusei &amp; Jaden arrive, Paradox had already attacked his time, supposedly killing both Pegasus and Yugi's grandpa, and had also managed to steal Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Dragon. After explaining everything to Yugi, he agrees to fight with Yusei and Jaden against Paradox in the ultimate three-on-one duel to free the trapped monsters and save both the world and time itself before it's too late.
