He is skilled in gaming and usually spends all his time in the game arcade of Outside with his friends. This might be because he wants to escape from the inconvenience and cooped-up feeling having to live as a YOUKAI-NINGEN. He always wears headphones, pretending not to listen to the story of others, because he wants to keep some distance from human society. He often says ironic things to BEM and BELA, but he gives much thought to them so that they don’t get hurt.

He fights against the evil with his agility. He does not have a special ability, but there are signs of potential of development.

The Port Town, Libra City. 
Upper Town is the center of politics, economics, and culture and is where all of the wealth is concentrated. Outside is where crime and corruption runs wild where no one trusts anyone. Between those two areas is a massive canal that separates the two and is spanned by a single bridge. The way this town is constructed, is a realization of what human discrimination looks like.
 
Sonia is a young, female detective who has just moved from Upper Town to Outside for work, chasing after a few cases. That is when she meets three hideous beings who fight to protect humanity. ‘Just what are they…?’ she wonders...
 
These three monsters known as youkai ningen (demon humans) live, concealing who they really are, while each bearing their own feelings and thoughts. BEM wants to become human himself and fights against evil that would befall humans. Bela looks up to and desires to become human herself and attends school in order to understand humans better. Belo has dove headfirst into the world of gaming, taking a philosophical view of both humans and the world. With every incident, they come into contact with humans, get hurt, and worry. They fight for the sake of humanity, however, due to their horrible form, they are something that humans will never accept.
 
There is another who is searching for these three beings. She has her thumb on the concealed assembly that controls Libra City from the shadows. But just what is her goal as she tries to get her hands on these three?

Aaron is an American voice actor who works for anime series of Funimation Entertainment.  He started voice acting when he was nine years old as the voice of Hiro Sohma and the young Akito Sohma in Fruits Basket. He was only twelve years old when he voiced the role of Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist, and is a cousin of voice actor and director Justin Cook. Aaron was one of few child voice actors in the voice acting field.  Due to his voice maturing, he was replaced by Maxey Whitehead for his role of Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but makes a cameo as the voice of the young Van Hohenheim, Edward and Alphonse's father.

The story takes place 2 years after the events of the TV series and follows Sonia as she continues to try to track down the "humanoid monsters". Her search takes her to a drug company called Draco Chemical, where she meets a man named Belum Eyesburg who looks exactly like Bem. Meanwhile, Belo continues fighting on his own in an effort to let Bela live as an ordinary human girl. After encountering Sonia, Belum begins having nightmares that make him question his own identity, and his peaceful, ordinary life with his wife and family begins to collapse...

They therefore decide to stay in the city, fighting against other monsters and y&#333;kai which attack humans, making a few friends in the way. Even though the three youkai are often abused by other human beings due to their appearance, they still strive in protecting the human populace of the city from other monsters, one day hoping to become human beings in return for their good actions.

For 1982 a 26-episode TV series sequel to Youkai Ningen Bem was planned. Because the original producers disbanded, the animation was done by Topcraft. 2 episodes were created and the project shut down without airing on television. The episodes were released to the public on a LD-Box Set a decade later. 2,000 units were printed and all were sold out.
