Diego Brando (usually called "Dio" for short) is a famous professional jockey from England. He is one of the participants in the Steel Ball Run race. Although unrelated to his DIO counterpart directly (parts 1-6 and 7-9 take place in two distinct, separate universes), he appears to be very similar to the original Dio in both looks and personality. 

~!He was raised among a group of homeless people after his mother saved him from drowning in a river when he was still a baby. He was later adopted into nobility when his talent as a jockey was discovered. Although he was raised with much love, he acts cold-hearted and will do virtually anything to win.!~

Riders from around the world gather in the Wild West for the race of the century! Johnny Joestar, a former jockey paralyzed from the waist down, comes to spectate, and momentarily regains the ability to walk while watching a duel fought by Gyro Zeppeli. Desperate to learn more about this power, Johnny joins the race alongside Gyro and embarks on the most epic and bizarre race to ever cross the American frontier!

The second race stage of JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Steel Ball Run. 

In the 2nd STAGE, a desert crossing spanning roughly 750 miles- the land that Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli must challenge, is home to the area that is feared as the "Devil's Palm." In 1875, a threat lurking in said desert wiped out a cavalry of 26 people, eliciting fear from the local native people.
