She was a member in the tennis club at her middle and high schools, and she was also the general manager of the club in high school. When Azusa was in 8th grade, she was inspired to become a voice actress after hearing the Akiko Yajima's performance as Kohaku in Inuyasha. She participated in Horipro's 36th Talent Scout Caravan on October 11, 2011, was awarded as the grand prix winner and made her debut as a voice actress in 2012. In 2014, she made her official debut as a singer with the album "Beyond Myself!".

Azusa's hobbies including karaoke, impersonating, making albums, cooking and sewing. Her special skills include tennis - which she has been playing ever since fifth grade of elementary school - and arm wrestling, and she likes to stay healthy. She also loves both cows and movies, and has said that her ideal date would be either tennis or a movie so that she wouldn’t have to talk a lot. An American voice actress, ADR director, and script writer affiliated with Funimation and Seraphim Digital/Sentai Filmworks.

Monica's father is from Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain, and when she was young, her family would often visit there. She would translate for her younger brother some of the European Spanish-dubbed cartoons which included anime like Doraemon and Dragon Ball Z, often imitating the various characters. Monica studied ballet, tap, and jazz, but transitioned to musical theater when was 12. She studied acting through high school as well as college at the University of Houston. She's cited voice actor inspirations from The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Beavis and Butt-head. She was working on a theater show with Jason Douglas, who suggested she audition for ADV Films. Her first voice-over role was a walla in the 1999 dub of Martian Successor Nadesico.
