~!The killer from 1995-1996, he is a selfish villain who only thinks for himself. When he first killed someone, he couldn't handle the guilt of murder and later ran away from his later crimes. He first appears on the day of his farewell party trying to make Ryougi Shiki believe that she is the real killer. The origin that he has is "Consumption", which was awakened by Araya Souren and since then he has been eating people and selling drugs on the street that he had grown himself. He began doing so hoping that it would help awaken other people's origin so that the world would be filled with more people like him. According to Lio, no one was thinking well of him quitting high school, but Mikiya was the one person who truly wished him good luck. Because of that he thought Mikiya was the only person who could understand him, but didn't hesitate to kill him when he got rejected. Afterwards, he thought that Shiki would be the person who would truly understand him because she is different from normal people. But no, he was just crazy. According to Araya, out of the three people he gave his power to, Lio was a failure. !~  The origin that he has is "Consumption". He's agile, able to jump on and climb walls like a spider. 

In February 1999, a string of murders has Shiki Ryougi and Mikiya Kokutou on edge. These crimes share a disturbing resemblance to a similar set of homicides from 1995, when Shiki and Mikiya first met, and awaken a dark, murderous desire that has laid dormant within Shiki's soul ever since then. 

With Shiki under suspicion due to her involvement in the past killings and supposed resemblance to the killer, she and Mikiya set out to find the true perpetrator. In the midst of their separate investigations, Mikiya grows increasingly concerned with Shiki's well-being and hurries to find the one responsible in order to protect Shiki from her own impulses. With the lead he receives from his cousin, police investigator Daisuke Akimi, Mikiya is led into the underbelly of Mifune City, as the salvation of Shiki's soul lies in his determination to prove her innocence once and for all.

March, 1995: Mikiya Kokutou meets a girl who has a mysterious gaze and falls in love with her. That April, he's reunited with her at his high school entrance ceremony. The girl's name is Shiki Ryougi. Meanwhile, the city has been rattled by a series of bizarre murders. There are no known links between victims, and the motive is unclear. An astonishing secret awaits Mikiya, but he doesn't find out until three years later...

A teenaged girl, who possesses the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception", a supernatural ability that allows the user to see the "death" of everything in existence and kill the object by destroying its "origin". She recently recovered from a two-year coma caused by a traffic accident. Prior to the traffic accident, she originally had two personalities, a male personality named Shiki (&#32340;), and the original female personality Shiki (&#24335;). Children born into the Ry&#333;gi family are generally male and are raised with two personalities, so the male personality is customarily called the "yang" personality, while the female is called the "yin" personality. It is easy to tell which Shiki is speaking at a given time because they both have a distinct style of speaking, most notably that the female Shiki refers to herself with the pronoun watashi (&#31169;), while male Shiki refers to himself as ore (&#12458;&#12524;). After waking from her coma, Shiki discovers that she can no longer feel the male Shiki's presence and assumes that he died because of the accident. She also feels a detachment from her memories before the accident, and while she knows she is Shiki, she does not feel that she is. In the hopes of regaining herself and the "dead" Shiki, she puts on a cold fa&ccedil;ade that somewhat resembles the male Shiki's and tries to act as the female Shiki did. T&#333;ko understands the sense of detachment Shiki feels, but considers the current Shiki a third, new personality.
