The last of the four dukes. Rufus is known as the longest living duke (at 67 years old) and is a very knowledgeable person. He holds information on almost all topics and even knows people's personalities and is thus able to predict their reactions. He absolutely detests people changing without him knowing as then he would not have the most updated information.  

Oz and co. approach Rufus to seek information about the Tragedy of Sabrié. Rufus first appears as a round man with a big mustache wearing a big teacup shaped hat. Later, after getting destroyed by Break, it is revealed that the real Rufus created that illusion. The real Rufus has long red hair, tired looking eyes and speaks in an old fashioned style. He was sought by Oz in order to learn more about the Tragedy of Sabrié, but instead, they learned about Break's past. Sheryl Rainsworth, Shalon's grandmother, is a childhood friend of Rufus. In one of the omakes, it is revealed that she was in fact his first love, though she coldly rejected him.   

The air of celebration surrounding fifteen-year-old Oz Vessalius&rsquo;s coming-of-age ceremony quickly turns to horror when he is condemned for a sin about which he knows nothing. He is thrown into an eternal, inescapable prison known as the Abyss from which there is no escape. There, he meets a young girl named Alice, who is not what she seems. Now that the relentless cogs of fate have begun to turn, do they lead only to crushing despair for Oz, or is there some shred of hope for him to grasp on to?

Oz Vessalius, heir to one of the duke houses, has just turned fifteen. His life is rich and carefree, darkened only by the constant absence of his father. For no reason that he can discern, he's cast into the prison known as the "Abyss", only to be saved by a "chain" known as Alice, the bloodstained black rabbit. It is unknown why was he cast into Abyss, how does Alice factor into it all, and what does the organization known as "Pandora" want with him.
