Ely Otta is a short young girl with wide eyes and black hair. She wears an Asian conical hat and ragged tunics. Her bangs frame her face but part to reveal her eyebrows. She has a fringe in the middle of her forehead.

She is upbeat, kind, determined, yet stubborn. She tries to help as many people as she can, but has been shown to be quite unforgiving in regards to people who've wronged her or anyone else. She also has a mature side, being rational and level-headed when talking about the reasoning behind her clearly set goals or dreams.
Ely is terrified of ending up just like her mother, so from a very young age she imposed several moral codes upon herself. She strongly believes that "All life comes from the soil" and "All that is borrowed must be returned". However, her mother's actions influenced her subconsciousness so much so that it became her Choujin power.




A plane is seen crashing with black smoke billowing out of it. It seems to have been caused by a "Choujin". However, strangely enough, the plane was not damaged and there were 200 survivors. High school students Kurobara Tokio and Higashi Azuma are on their way home from volunteering to help with the accident when they are suddenly tangled up with a delinquent they have a history with... but there is something different about him.

Some chapters receive a version with fewer pages in the magazine, also counting with additions of new pages in certain situations.
