She sometimes has problems reading the atmosphere, but that ignorance causes her to be happy. She has perfect pitch, but her performances still need work. 

In a lonely corner of the world, on the edge of No Man&rsquo;s Land, sits Clocktower Fortress. It&rsquo;s home to the 1121st Platoon of the Helvetian Army, and their newest member is a 15-year-old volunteer named Kanata Sorami, who enlisted to learn how to play the bugle. When she was a child, Kanata was saved by a beautiful soldier and found inspiration in the clear, golden sound of her trumpet. From that day forward, Kanata decided music would be her life. 
As the other platoon members train her how to be a bugler and a soldier, Kanata's enduring optimism will inspire them to look for happiness and beauty, even in a world haunted by war.

Hisako Kanemoto was raised in Okayama Prefecture and attended Kamogata High School. Upon graduation, she enrolled in the voice acting course at the Vocational School of Art College Kobe. After completing her education in 2008, she moved to Tokyo and joined the training office associated with Production Baobab agency.

Early in her career, Kanemoto used the pseudonym _Juri Aikawa_. She made her anime debut in [Sora no Manimani](https://anilist.co/anime/6098) in 2009 under this name. After landing the lead role in [So Ra No Wo](https://anilist.co/anime/6802) To the following year, Kanemoto announced that she would be using her real name in her works moving forward. She was also cast as the title character in [Shinryaku! Ika Musume](https://anilist.co/anime/8557) later that year.

After a breakthrough 2010, Kanemoto was named Best New Actress at the 5th Seiyuu Awards. She has also voiced a number of mascot characters from Okayama Prefecture because of her origin.

Kanemoto made her debut as a solo musical artist in 2014 under Victor Entertainment with the album Fantastic Voyage.

On May 26, 2018 she announced on her official blog that she will take hiatus from professional activities for studying abroad. Her agency Production BAOBAB confirmed her return to work in March 2019.

According to the official website, two extra episodes will be included in the Blu-ray and DVD volumes 4 and 7 of "Sora no Woto". The volumes 4 and 7 will be released on June 23rd (episode 7.5) and September 22nd (episode 13), respectively.

Based off of the anime, the story is set in the future on a land that, after being scarred by long-lasting wars, has settled into quiet decline. Kanata Sorami is a 15-year-old girl who fulfills her dream of enlisting in the army and joins a unit of five girls who protect a fortress. The girls also play music that reverberate across the skies over towns without people and seas without fish.
