Kim is living a peaceful life with his father as a farmer on their planet until one day when a runaway spaceship is detected moving at a high speed towards his father's farm. To rescue his father Kim jumps on board the ship and manages to land it safely before it crashes. 
On board the ship he finds a severely Injured lone survivor whom with his dying words begs Kim to take something of his to the Galactic Fleet. He then transfers something that was attached to his arm onto Kim's arm. The thing was a Lens and its transferring should have been impossible and having it has turned Kim into a Lensman. Other than giving Kim unknown powers it also contains vital information for the victory of the Galactic Fleet over the evil Boskone Empire. 
Kim must now using the spaceship Britannia bring the Lense to the Galactic Fleet. But this is not an easy task when Lord Helmet of the Boskone Empire is willing to use everything in his power to stop him.

Jeffrey Alan Winkless was an American film and voice actor and music composer. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. One of his younger brothers, Daniel Owen Winkless, worked with him on The Banana Splits Adventure Hour. He has done voice-overs for several anime titles including Doomed Megalopolis, Space Adventure Cobra, Vampire Hunter D, Crying Freeman and Lily C.A.T..  Winkless died of a brain tumor on June 26, 2006.

A Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator, and theatre director from Tokyo. He was affiliated with Office PAC at the time of his death. His real name was Yasutomo Nozawa. Nozawa was best known for dubbing over Alain Delon, Al Pacino, Giuliano Gemma, David McCallum, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Christopher Walken, Bruce Willis, C-3PO (Star Wars Trilogy), and Nash Bridges (Nash Bridges). He was also known as his roles in Cobra (as Cobra), Dororo (as Hyakkimaru), Gokuu no Daibouken (as Sanzo), and the Sakura Wars series (as Oni-Ou).

On October 30, 2010, at 3:36 P.M., Nozawa died at a Tokyo hospital of lung cancer. He was 72 years old at the time of his death. A year after his death, he was honored with a Special Merit Award in the 5th Seiyuu Awards.
