Pilot of the Gustav, Moonbay is probably the most free spirited person throughout the Zoids series. She is very kind and she always speaks her mind.  She is also a good cook. Moonbay is one of the funniest characters and is always looking for a way to make money.     We first meet Moonbay when she crosses paths with Van and Fiona in the desert whilst transporting items in the Gustav. She is a good zoid mechanic and helps Van repair the Shield Liger then joins them on their travels. It is later revealed she is a smuggler and is transporting weapons to the Guylos Empire. She doesn&#039;t work for the empire, she just does what pays the most.    Moonbay is very independent and acts as such, but when times are tough, she helps out any way she can. She takes on the role of repairing Irvine and Van&#039;s zoids throughout the series. She also has a thing for Irvine, but she refuses to admit it. It is also stated early on that both her and Irvine have known each other for a while.

Zoids are beast-like fighting machines used in both everyday use such as transportation, and special use such as war. Some types of Zoids, know as Organoids, are miniature Zoids that are living organisms. These Organoids have the capability to fuse with a non-living Zoid and make it much more powerful. 
Van (Ban) Freiheit discovers a Zoid Organoid in an abandoned laboratory while running from two strangers piloting Zoids. Also in the laboratory, in an animated suspension tube is a strange girl. He breaks the tube open and takes her and the Organoid with him. Spotting a ruined Shield Liger Zoid outside nearby, the Organoid fuses with it and repairs the damages. Making his escape, Van names the Organoid Zeke, and decides to keep him as a friend. The girl, who says her name is Fiona, wants to find something called Zoids Eve, and so Van, Zeke, and Fiona begin their adventure.

Van is the son of the greatest Zoid pilot in town, but he isn't living up to his father's reputation. He's lucky if he can even get a Zoid to move, but while being chased by a rampaging scorpion-like Zoid, Van finds himself in some old ruins.
