Lind L. Tailor is a convicted criminal sentenced to die. [L](https://anilist.co/character/71/L-Lawliet) places Tailor as a decoy on television in order to lure out Kira. 
[Light](https://anilist.co/character/80/Light-Yagami), in a foolish rage, ends up killing Tailor with a heart attack, believing him to be "L" even though he is not. This gives L his first real lead in the Kira case, and is the first interaction L and Kira share together.

Light Yagami is a genius high school student who is about to learn about life through a book of death.
