A mysterious spirit that Yuma encounters, who only Yuma can see or hear. He is a duel genius and offers his wisdom to Yuma, whose duel tactics are lacking, in order to obtain the 99 Numbers Cards which contain fragments of his memories.

The story takes place in the near future in a city called Heartland. Tsukumo Yuma is a young duelist who strives to become the Duel Monsters champion, despite being an amateur. One day, during a duel with a school bully, a mysterious spirit called Astral appears before Yuma, and helps him to win. Astral then explains to Yuma that he is searching for his lost memories, which have been transformed into 99 "Xyz Monster" cards called "Numbers" and have been scattered across the globe. The "Numbers" have the ability to possess the duelists who own them and bring out their darkest desires. In order to recover his memories, and collect the "Numbers" cards, Astral teams up with Yuma.

He joined a theater troupe when he was 4 years old, and two years later made his acting debut in the historical drama Korczak. He remained with the theater troupe until March 2006, when he moved to Junction.

Made his voice acting debut in 1996 on [Taiho Shichauzo](https://anilist.co/anime/1577/). He auditioned and got the role of [Haku](https://anilist.co/character/385/) in the 2001 film [Spirited Away](https://anilist.co/anime/199/). The same year, he voiced the eponymous main character in [PaRappa The Rapper](https://anilist.co/anime/3736/), and the following year he started voicing Sora in the Kingdom Hearts video game series, a character who he still voices to this day.

He released his debut mini-album Soleil on June 26, 2009 and his first single album, Faith, on November 25, 2009. Since May 2010, he and [Hiroshi Kamiya](https://anilist.co/staff/95118/) formed a music duo called [KAmiYU](https://anilist.co/staff/116031/). Their first mini-album "link-up" was released on August 3, 2011.

Marc Thompson is an American voice actor who has worked for 4Kids Entertainment, NYAV Post and DuArt Film and Video. A new enemy has been revealed - Barian. They wish to gather the "Numbers" and destroy the Astral World to avoid their own world's destruction. As such, Yuma and his friends are their prime target, and the Barian begin to slowly enter Heartland City.

No one loves Dueling more than Yuma Tsukumo, but unfortunately for him, no one is worse at it! This isn’t going to stop Yuma from trying though. When Yuma calls on the memory of his parents during the Duel, a strange being called Astral appears, and the encounter is the start of Yuma’s amazing Duel journey!

A short special aired in the middle of information about Yu-Gi-Oh! with real people. 
Kotori takes Yuma to the gymnastics club at their school to cheer on her friend. There they meet the ace of the club, Kimura Taiki, who plans to quit after a recent loss at a competition. To cheer him up, Yuma challenges him to a duel.

It’s a multiple chapter serial by Masashi Satou, artist of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s manga. Unlike previous manga in V Jump, it will be a story intentionally including cards from the real card game.
