The oldest granddaughter of Giboshi Geparuto, who runs a famous sushi restaurant &quot;Cho Kanda Sushi&quot; in Kanda district. She is a relative of Ryotsu (their grandparents were siblings). She works as traffic police in Katsushika Police Station. Since she is also raised in a rural area, she is good at many traditional Japanese toys and activities that rival or even exceed Ryotsu&#039;s skill level.

Ryoutsu, being an underpayed policeman, is always coming up with ways to make some quick money. But in the end, his plans which are ridiculous from the beginning always go wrong and land him in big trouble with the Buchou.

Yuko Doi is an actress, seyuu and a singer from Uwajima, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts (Vocal Music Department, (soprano major)).  She is a wife of Fuji TV producer Wada Ko.

The typical Kochikame plot involves Ryo-san coming up with a money-making scheme by inventing a new gadget or capitalizing on a fad, achieving great success, calling on Nakagawa's help as things turn sour, and finally losing it all as the fad runs out of steam or out of control. While the plots are gag-driven, much of the humor comes from the juxtaposition of mundane characters with the bizarrely incongruous (Nakagawa's wealth, Maria's appeal, everyone's lack of actual police work), most of which is never explained or rationalized in the slightest.
