An old friend of Mattia&#039;s who once worked together with him in a circus in Paris. Remi and Mattia come across him in London by coincidence, and he helps them out.

Remi is a boy living happily with his mother in the French countryside. But everything changes when his estranged father comes home and, in desperate need of money, reveals that Remi is adopted, and sells him. Heartbroken, Remi ends up with Vitalis, a traveling musician, and his troupe of animal entertainers. Together, they travel the country trying to make a living, along the way learning the harsh lessons of life. A deeply moving story about friendship, loss and the pursuit of happiness.<br>

As a child, he was a member of Gekidan Himawari, a children's acting troupe. He is employed by the talent management firm Aoni Production. He was close friends with late [Hirotaka Suzuoki](https://anilist.co/staff/95572/).

He is most known for the roles of Amuro Ray (Mobile Suit Gundam), Hyouma Hoshi (Kyojin no Hoshi), Pegasus Seiya (Saint Seiya), Yamcha (Dragon Ball), Kyosuke Kasuga (Kimagure Orange Road), and Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask (Sailor Moon).  He used the pseudonym Noboru Sougetsu in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 for his role as Ribbons Almark.

Furuya married fellow voice actress [Mami Koyama](https://anilist.co/staff/95571/Mami-Koyama) in 1976. They divorced in 1983. In 1985, he married fellow voice actress [Satomi Majima](https://anilist.co/staff/101240/Satomi-Majima), with whom had a daughter in 1992.
