The over-enthusiastic Osakan gangster-turned-good, Bancho was recruited into the team only because Ukiya believed Bancho &#039;has the eyes of a Gate Keeper&#039;. With the mindset of a samurai, Bancho likens the girls in the Gate Keepers team as princesses and himself as their hero. It is only much, much later in the series that he reveals his latent Gate Keeper ability, the Gate of Solid Crush, which seemingly attracts Kaoru (perhaps because of the similarity of their gates). It is Tokyo, 1969. Earth is under the attack of the "Invaders." Fortunately, though, the public is unaware of this. But to the secret orginazation, A.E.G.I.S., the threat is very real, and it is up them to stop this invasion. One day on his route to high school, Ukiya Shun observes a battle between a young girl and a group of Invaders. He ends up helping her and discovers that much like the girl, he possesses the ability to generate a "gate" of special power that only a few other people are gifted with. As a result, Ukiya then joins A.E.G.I.S. in an effort to recruit other Gate Keepers in order to protect the city, all while doing his best not to imitate his late father, whom he dispises.

Koyasu is the most prolific voice actor in the industry, having been credited for over 700 roles as of April 2022.

Growing up, Koyasu skipped out on going to school to watch movies at home because he wanted to become an actor. It wasn’t until later that he became interested in voice acting after having seen [Galaxy Express 999](https://anilist.co/anime/1491/). After graduation he entered a voice acting school. In 1988, he made his voice acting debut, and got his first regular role a year later voicing [Gai](https://anilist.co/character/13374/) in [Tenkuu Senki Shurato](https://anilist.co/anime/2113/).

Though having voiced more characters in the medium than anyone else, he is probably most known for his role as [Dio Brando](https://anilist.co/character/4004/) in [JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure](https://anilist.co/anime/14719/). He has stated that he likes playing villainous characters.

Koyasu has taken over many of [Kaneto Shiozawa](https://anilist.co/staff/95424/)’s roles after Shiozawa’s passing.

He is known for playing tough or grouchy men in dubbed anime and video games. His career includes Hotohori in Fushigi Yūgi and Jin in Samurai Champloo. He also played numerous cameos and minor characters in Rurouni Kenshin, in addition to the major character of Hajime Saito. He also does Don Patch in Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo as well as Gabumon and other voices in Digimon.  According to Anime News Network, Thornton has the most credits of any male voice actor and he is second in total voice actor credits only next to Wendee Lee. He has been in nearly two hundred voice-over productions for Japanese animation.  Thornton is also well-known for having played many different minor voice roles throughout the Power Rangers franchise (and similar series such as VR Troopers and Masked Rider).  Thornton has also had experience with ADR direction. Currently, he is co-directing the ADR for the popular anime series Bleach alongside Wendee Lee.

After attacked by an alien, saved by a girl, and discovers he has extraordinary powers, Shun Ukiya has had a hell of first day of school. Realizing what this new power is all about soon becomes one of the less important things that threaten Earth.
