Youko is Shinobu's classmate and also Aya's friend since middle school. Youko often teases Aya, even going as far as telling the group that Aya would never leave her side in middle school because Aya was too shy to do anything alone (though Aya strongly denies this).  While Youko is very energetic, athletic and high spirited, at the same time, she is one of the most level headed people in the group (the other ones being Aya and Alice).   She has a few younger siblings that she loves to play with. It has been noted by Aya that Youko's little brother's voice sounds almost exactly like Youko's.

The story begins with Oomiya Shinobu, a 15-year-old, seemingly pure Japanese girl who actually did a homestay in Great Britain. Even after coming back to Japan, she still misses her time overseas. One day, an airmail letter arrives from Alice, the girl in Shinobu's host family in Great Britain. The letter reads: Shinobu, I'm coming to Japan! The Japanese/British girls' mixed comedy follows the lives of Shinobu, Alice, and other girls from both Japan and Great Britain.

Although learning different languages continues to be an interest for Shinobu and her friends, the new school year brings unexpected difficulties. Not only is there always something new and different to distract them from their studies, but Alice and Yoko also are having trouble adjusting to being in a different class from Shinobu and Aya. Meanwhile, Karen isn't getting along at all with her new homeroom teacher, and it doesn't help that the teacher is having trouble figuring out how to make herself seem friendlier to her students as well. Craziness may ensue, but sometimes, all it takes is the right mutual experience to bring everyone together.

One of the best parts about being in a group of friends is that you usually have a couple of guardian angels watching over you. So, when Shinobu has to both write a script as well as make costumes for a play for the school festival, it doesn't take long for her classmates to realize that someone might have bitten off more than she can chew. Or write and sew, in this case. Fortunately for Shinobu's theatrical future, Alice, Yoko, and Aya are glad to pitch in, and that allows for a chance to reflect on their experiences in the days before Alice arrived. Will everything be finished in time, or will the audience be in stitches because of the ones coming apart onstage?

Time flies when you're having fun, and it seems like only yesterday that Shinobu Omiya was nervously waiting for her friend Alice Cartelet to arrive from England to study at Shinobu's school in Japan. Now, in their third and final year, Alice, Shinobu, Aya, and Yoko have truly become the best of friends and even Karen, Honoka, and Kana are part of the gang as well.
