A fifth grade elementary school student who transfers into Asahigaoka Branch School from Tokyo. She is quite tall and mature for her age, but she is also shy and has a crush on [Komari](https://anilist.co/character/54149/Koshigaya-Komari).

When Hotaru moves from Tokyo to a tiny town in the rural countryside, she’s in for some serious culture shock: the nearest place that sells comics is 20 minutes away, the nearest video store is ten train stations down the line, and there are only three other girls and one boy in her entire school! Even though everything’s so different, there’s something about the laid-back atmosphere that makes her feel strangely comfortable. While she’ll certainly miss parts of her old life, there’s a whole lifetime of experiences waiting to be enjoyed with her new friends Renge, Komari, Natsumi, and Suguru!

From an early age, she had an interest in playing games as well as magical girl anime such as [Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon](https://anilist.co/anime/530/Bishoujo-Senshi-Sailor-Moon/) and [Magic Knight Rayearth](https://anilist.co/anime/435/Magic-Knight-Rayearth/). 

During her fifth grade of elementary school, Murakawa started becoming interested in voice acting after watching the anime series [Hunter × Hunter](https://anilist.co/anime/136/Hunter-x-Hunter/).

Even though there are still only five students who attend the remote Asahigaoka Branch School, each one of the girls already has a lifetime of wonderful experiences in the carefree Japanese countryside. Some memories may belong to just one person, like Hotaru’s recollections of her first day in Asahigaoka before she’d had a chance to meet her new friends. Other memories bring an otherwise sleepy town to life for Komari, Natsumi, Renge, or even Suguru.

Suguru wins some tickets to Okinawa in a shopping mall lottery, so the whole gang plan to go on a trip there. To prepare for the trip, the girls practise being on an aeroplane and go to a convenience store to buy some travel things. Meanwhile, Renge is very thoughtful about how the trip may change her view on the world, spending the evening before the trip giving her farewells to the countryside. The next day, everyone sets off on their flight to Okinawa...
