She can be very scary and violent when in anger mode, but can also be very sweet and brave. Natsumi is pretty popular in school due to her amazing strength, but at grade school, she was nicknamed 'Devil Summer' in the manga because of her short temper until she became more mature in middle school. Like any other 14-year-old girl, she has some insecurities, especially around Saburo, whom she has a huge crush on, and has a girly-girl side. Natsumi seems to have a city-girl side, because when downtown Tokyo was in a power surge in an incredibly hot summer day, she looked really desperate and cried for help. She likes to listen to Mutsumi's radio show, but whenever she tries to listen to her letters that she sent there, she always gets interrupted. At school, she's friends with Yayori and Satsuki, and especially Koyuki, and shows her around the city part of Tokyo (which Koyuki is completely unaware of), and becomes a real friend to Koyuki. She's rivals with Keroro and calls him 'boke kaeru' (stupid frog) all the time. The only time when she called Keroro by his real name was when he defeated her in a swimming contest fair and square and decided to call a truce (until they were interrupted by Tamama) and when he joined the Garuru Platoon and Natsumi tried to snap him out of it. Ironically, she was the first one to discover Keroro at episode 1 and chapter 1 (so she can awake the occult-obsessed Fuyuki), who was hiding at Fuyuki's bedroom wall. She is suspicious of Keroro and the rest of his alien squad (except Mois), but then got used to their presence and kind of treats Keroro as a friend/slave and puts him down with most of the house chores, and even developed some feelings for Giroro. She is later given a neck brace invented by Kururu that transforms her and gives her the powers of a real-life Gundam and uses the neck brace whenever the team could use her help. Her favorite food is baked sweet potatoes and her weakness is anything that's creepy-crawly (especially slugs). Natsumi's name means '723' and 'summer beauty'. Keroro is a frog-like alien sent from his home planet on a mission to conquer Earth. But when his cover is blown, his battalion abandons him and he ends up in the home of the Hinata family. There, he's forced to do household chores and sleep in a dark basement that was once supposedly a prison cell haunted by the ghost of an innocent girl. He even spends his free time assembling Gundam model kits. During his stay, Keroro meets up with subordinates who were also stranded during their failed invasion.

Sergeant Keroro is the Captain of the Space Invasion Forces Special Advance Team of the 58th Planet of the Gamma Storm Cloud System, sent to the planet Pokopen (aka Earth) to collect intelligence for his planet's invasion force. He is also a frog. After his ship crash-lands in the planet earth, he takes shelter in the Hinata household, but the two kids, Fuyuki and Natsume, find him and take away his alien weapons. When his people discover that the Pokopenians are aware of him, Keroro is abandoned - left to fend for himself in this hostile world. But he's not alone - four other pre-invasion agents were are also lurking on Earth.

The movie begins with Fuyuki Hinata and the Keroro Platoon exploring an abandoned temple in the mountaintop city of Machu Picchu in Peru. While on the exploration, Keroro accidentally sets off a trap, and by chance they find a hidden chamber with a large blue crystal in the center, on a stand that has a key in it. Keroro leans on the key, causing the room to activate a mysterious machine, this caused the entire temple to shake. As soon as the group realized what was happening, they run out of the room. While running, Keroro accidentally loses his Kero Ball while Fuyuki catches a fleeting glimpse of a glowing young woman as he is running out, and tells Keroro that there was a girl in the room, but he is forced to leave the room before he can say anything else. The group successfully escapes, while the girl (now sprouting a pair of glowing wings) watches them leave - while back in the chamber, something is growing within the crystal...

Sergeant Keroro and his four subordinates came from the planet Keron to the Earth to conquer. However, without notice, they began to enjoy the life on the Earth. Keroro was supposed to stay with Hitana to get the chance to conquer the Earth, but he became friend with Hinata's son, Fuyuki. 
Today, as usual, Keroro goes to buy his favorite Gundam plastic model with Fuyuki. On their way home, they find a small shrine, and enter. There, they find a vase, and happens to break it. Since the next day, strange things happen all over the town and people are in panic. Inside the vase, Kiruru, Keron's ancient ultimate weapon was sealed. At the moment, Mirara who holds the secret of the Kiruru appears and informs them of the only method to save the Earth. However...

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sgt. Frog (known as Keroro Gunsou in Japan) anime, Bandai Namco Pictures announced the launch of a new animation project and released a special trailer alongside the news release. Despite the announcement being on April Fools' Day, the official Sgt. Frog Twitter account confirmed the news using the hashtag "For real" (#本当).
