Ilse Langnar was a member of the Scout Regiment. She was a participant of the 34th expedition beyond the Walls and was in charge of the left wing of the second brigade who went MIA. In a notebook, she documented information regarding an [Abnormal Titan](https://anilist.co/character/133213/Abnormal-Titan) she encountered, which later was discovered and aided in [Hange Zoë's](https://anilist.co/character/71121/Hange-Zoe) research. 

Ilse appeared to be quite emotional, yet brave, attempting to stand firm in moments of despair. She seemed to be a very devoted and smart soldier. She cared deeply for her family, regretful of being unable to give anything back to her parents. Ilse thought of herself as a proud member of the Survey Corps and resolved to do whatever she could to benefit the branch. 


In this post-apocalyptic sci-fi story, humanity has been devastated by the bizarre, giant humanoids known as the Titans. Little is known about where they came from or why they are bent on consuming mankind. Seemingly unintelligent, they have roamed the world for years, killing everyone they see. For the past century, what's left of man has hidden in a giant, three-walled city. People believe their 50-meter-high walls will protect them from the Titans, but the sudden appearance of an immense Titan is about to change everything.
