The princess of the sorcerers and the strongest sorceress in history, she was left in a desert island to die by the leader of Kusaribe clan, Samon. Since the Island did not allow the use of magic, she joins Mahiro's quest to revenge Aika's death, and her own revenge against Samon. She talks to Mahiro and Yoshino through a wooded doll necklace.    ~!Later it is revealed that Hakaze had long died before she makes contact with Mashiro and Yoshino, and the doll in their possesion is connecting them with a Hakaze from before she perishes in the island and her remains are recovered by Samon. By using the connection between the dolls, Hakaze manages to escape the island and transfer herself from the past to the present by using her powers to send her body to the present except her skeleton which is left behind in the island for Samon to find, just to have her past body and present skeleton successfully rejoined in the current time, thus allowing her to return to life without violating the space-time continuum.  After the confrontation in Mt Fuji, she falls in love with Yoshino, but when she confessed her feelings to him he revealed that he was Aika's boyfriend.  She has been the only person who managed to make Yoshino show his true feelings. Aika punched her for that.!~   ~! She traveled back in time to find out the truth behind Aika's death. She encounters Aika, who reveals her identity as the Magician of Zetsuen and her intention of committing suicide in order to save the world.  After that she helps Hanemura in defeating the Tree of Genesis and loses her powers.!~   ~!In the final chapter we discover that she got a driving license and that she won't give up on Yoshino despite his statement that there are better guys than him.!~  Hakaze's setup and behavior includes allusions to Prospero, the main character from Shakespeare's play The Tempest, who just like her, is a magician betrayed by his servants and left for dead on a deserted island.

From the deserted island, she sends a message out to sea, which is picked up by Mahiro Fuwa, a young boy who's sworn vengeance upon the criminal who killed his little sister, Aika. Mahiro agrees to help Hakaze under the condition that she find Aika's killer with her magic. But once Mahiro's best friend and Aika's lover, Yoshino Takigawa is rescued from danger, he too gets dragged into this tale of revenge.
