Lyra begins as an alchemist under the command of Lieutenant Yoki in Youswell with aspirations of becoming a State Alchemist. Lyra'sl alchemic attacks condense the moisture in the air and force it at high velocity toward her adversary. Her necklace bears a small transmutation circle.   ~!After being defeated by Edward in a battle, she seems to learn from her mistake in following Yoki and becomes the apprentice of Dante three years later in an effort to improve her already strong abilities and become an even greater alchemist.   Dante, whose body was aging, performed a body switch with Lyra using the Philosopher's Stone and then proceeded to kill the original Lyra so that her secret would remain hidden. Edward later finds the remains of Dante's old body and assumes the homunculus Greed was responsible.!~  

The rules of alchemy state that to gain something, one must lose something of equal value. Alchemy is the process of taking apart and reconstructing an object into a different entity, with the rules of alchemy to govern this procedure. However, there exists an object that can bring any alchemist above these rules, the object known as the Philosopher's Stone. The young Edward Elric is a particularly talented alchemist who through an accident years back lost his younger brother Alphonse and one of his legs. Sacrificing one of his arms as well, he used alchemy to bind his brother's soul to a suit of armor. This lead to the beginning of their journey to restore their bodies, in search for the legendary Philosopher's Stone.

Monica's father is from Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain, and when she was young, her family would often visit there. She would translate for her younger brother some of the European Spanish-dubbed cartoons which included anime like Doraemon and Dragon Ball Z, often imitating the various characters. Monica studied ballet, tap, and jazz, but transitioned to musical theater when was 12. She studied acting through high school as well as college at the University of Houston. She's cited voice actor inspirations from The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Beavis and Butt-head. She was working on a theater show with Jason Douglas, who suggested she audition for ADV Films. Her first voice-over role was a walla in the 1999 dub of Martian Successor Nadesico.
