 A twenty-year-old man currently living with his older brother in a city called Trigraph in Elenpios. He excels in cooking. During his first day of work, his brother, Julius, is nowhere to be found, which begins putting him in debt. Ludger is the main character of Tales of Xillia 2. He has a special ability inherited in the Kresnik family called Corpse Shell that transforms his appearance and improves his fighting ability. His weapons include dual swords, dual pistols, and a hammer.  Ludger wears a blue dress shirt with folded sleeves and brown suspenders, yellow necktie, and black trousers. He has a blue feather decoration hanging on the back of his trousers. He has a pair of green eyes and yellow rings circling the pupil, the trait he shared with Elle. Despite being brothers, Julius does not have the same similarities. His silver hair with black ends on the right is similar to Nova's hair but with inverted colors. In the manga, he is likewise depicted as a reliable person fond of his brother, but rather impulsive in his actions.   ~!Ludger possesses a protective nature toward Elle and Julius. He seeks to protect Julius by believing there must be another way to save Elle other than kill him. He hesitates when he is opted to kill his own brother.!~

After the incident in Tales of Xillia, the shell which separated the two worlds, Liese Maxia and Elenpios, deteriorates and the two worlds join to become one, but not the people of the two worlds. Opposition arises between the people of both worlds, especially the Elenpians, leading to the formation of a terrorist group, whose goal is to interfere with the formation of peace between the two worlds, known as the Exodus. 
The story revolves around Ludger Will Kresnik, a young man who lives in a small apartment in Elenpios with his brother, the elite agent of Clanspia Corp., the giant enterprise of Elenpios. Having failed his exam to enter the same company as his brother, Ludger gets another job as a chef in the train station's cafeteria instead. During his first day of work, he runs into a little girl who wishes to go to the Land of Canaan, the mystic land where all wishes are granted, without knowing that their meeting will unfold the secret of the world and of the strange power inherited within Ludger's family, which ultimately may lead to the destruction of the world. After the destruction of the Shell which separates the two worlds, Rieze Maxia and Elenpios has come together as one. However, due to the difference in cultures and ideology, the people of the two worlds find difficulty in living together in the united world. This manga mainly focuses on Jude Mathis, a Rieze Maxian medical graduate heading out to work on his research in Elenpios to solve the environmental problem of the world of machinery, and Alvin, a former Elenpian mercenary who is about to start his new life as a trade person, during that one year between the story of Tales of Xillia and Tales of Xillia 2.
