He is the son of Dr. Troyard, a brilliant scientist researching Aldnoah, and was launched to Mars by his father as a means to protect him. He was found by [Princess Asselyum Vers Allusia](https://anilist.co/character/88175/Asseylum-Vers-Allusia) who took him in and later on became her tutor. After several years of living on Mars, [Count Cruhteo](https://anilist.co/character/88435/Cruhteo) takes custody over Slaine.

Slaine is very friendly and loyal towards Princess Asselyum as she was the one who saved him and the first person he met on Mars. He wishes to support her in any way possible and is willing to put his own life at risk in order to protect Princess Asselyum. Towards others however, he acts coldly and does not seem to trust anyone other than the Princess, often distancing himself from both Martians and Terrans. He is always seen with a serious look on his face.

Slaine proves himself to be a very capable pilot, able to quickly maneuver around in a Kataphrakt and face Inaho by himself.

In 1972, the Apollo 17 mission found a hypergate to Mars on the surface of the moon. Upon landing, astronauts discovered a enchanted utility later referred to as 'Aldnoah', giving the astronauts a status of superiority. Soon, many humans have relocated to Mars, and have adapted to the name 'Martians'. After Princess Asseylum, a royal Martian princess, descends onto Earth in an attempt to create a treaty between both planets, a war breaks out between Earth and Mars, and Martian soldiers begin to descend from the sky, riding steel giants, intent on exterminating humanity.

Zach Aguilar is an LA-based voice actor known for being a vocal "chameleon." He is also a well-versed pianist of 10 years, martial artist, and singer on the side.

When Zach was young, he would often take days off from school and do acting auditions in Hollywood. This is all thanks to his mom, who would often call the school and tell them that his son was "sick". At an undisclosed time, he almost got out of acting completely until he was about 12 or 13 years old when he decided to get back into acting because of his interest in anime and video games. He took some voiceover classes and started to pursue voiceover afterwards. 

He won an Anime Expo competition back in 2014. Zach claims this to be his first big studio role, which would lead him to "greater things" later on.

Seeking for revenge, Count Saazbaum, a Martian, attacked the Earth. Later on, the war between the Terrans and Martians ended with Earth's Terrans gaining the victory. However, nineteen months later, the battle between them continues. Martians still continues to invade the Earth and the Terrans to protect it.
