A modern warrior who carries a sword on a regular basis. Both his words and his actions are antiquated. Although there are times where he can be earnest and helpful, there are also times where he can be reckless. With his carefree singing voice, he puts on a sharp and serious performance.

Serious, rigid, and quick to jump to conclusions—whenever his emotions run high, Souma would attempt to draw the sword he's carrying everywhere, especially at those who are dishonest. His family is of the Kanzaki style and famous in the world of kendo. He honestly admits his mistakes, but it quickly leads to self-blame and rigorous training.

Despite his serious disposition, he joined the Marine Bio Club (one of the most suspicious clubs in the academy) and has great respect for Kanata Shinkai. He doesn't get along with Kaoru Hakaze from the same club, but hits it off with Adonis Otogari, his classmate.

An anime adaptation of the idol raising game Ensemble Stars! 

The "idol-training game" takes place at a private boys' idol-training school with a history of turning out many great talents in show business. The protagonist is the school's lone female student who transfers to the school because of a special situation, and enters the school's producer department.

The main plot of the novel follows the game's main story, but in the novel readers are now given insight on Anzu's thoughts, as well as more in-depth characterization of some characters.
