Kazuichi is a highly emotional character, though he tries to play it smooth and acts carefree at first. He is a very jumpy person, easily scared and often screaming in fear. People tend to note his intimidating appearance does not match his compulsive and cowardly personality. Naturally, he has a great fear of dying on the island during the Killing School Trip, which causes a lot of stress and panic for him. He also often blurts things out without thinking, seems to be a very bad liar, and tends to be slow-witted. Alongside [Mikan Tsumiki](https://anilist.co/character/90008/Tsumiki-Mikan), Kazuichi often ends up being the butt of [Monokuma](https://anilist.co/character/73235/Monokuma) and [Hiyoko Saionji](https://anilist.co/character/90017/Saionji-Hiyoko)'s jokes.

Kazuichi tends to carry around a wrench and he gets anxious if he cannot tinker with something. He has a great love for machinery, especially fast ones like rockets and bikes, which is ironic, since he suffers from awful motion sickness. He also likes girls a lot, though in a rather perverted and shallow way. He has taken a strong liking to [Sonia Nevermind](https://anilist.co/character/90015/Nevermind-Sonia), to an extent of being a pervert, and in constant jealousy of [Gundham Tanaka](https://anilist.co/character/73213/Tanaka-Gundham). He claims that he's dreamed of a beautiful blonde girlfriend since he was a kid. Sonia dislikes this behavior and calls him a stalker.

Chisa Yukizome begins her job as homeroom teacher for Hope's Peak Academy's 77th Class of Ultmate students. Meanwhile, Hajime Hinata, a student of the school's Reserve Course for students without talent, prepares to undergo an experiment to make him the Ultimate Hope. What follows is a series of tragic events which lead to the birth of the Remnants of Despair and the realization of "The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History."
