Shuren of the Flames (炎のシュレン, Honō no Shuren?) is the Leader of the Goshasei's Crimson Army and uses a style which allows him to manipulate fire. After Hyui's death, Shuren challenges Raoh to avenge Hyui's death. He uses the suicidal Gosha Enjōken ("Five Chariots Passionate Flame Fist") technique, which engulfs his entire body in flames, but proves to be ineffective against Raoh.

One day, a wanderer appears out of the wasteland to bring justice to the guilty and hope to the people—a warrior named Ken, a man who bears seven scars upon his chest and holds the secret of a mysterious martial art known as Hokuto Shinken, the Divine Fist of the North Star!

The story is a spin-off prequel to the original Hokuto no Ken. It centers around Garuda who practices the Nanto Shinchou Ken style of martial arts. In the manga he will fight the five Nanto Goshasei members, impress Rihaku and provide a chance for Kenshirou and Yuria to unite.
