Sunakake Babaa is an old yōkai woman who carries sand which she throws into the eyes of enemies to blind them. She serves as an advisor to Kitaro and his companions, and manages a yōkai apartment building. The original sunakake-baba is an invisible sand-throwing spirit from the folklore of Nara Prefecture.  

Nearly twenty years into the 21st century, people have forgotten the existence of Yokai. As civilization advances, people are beginning to lose the consideration and kindliness for Nature. This has incurred the wrath of the ghosts who are becoming increasingly unhappy with the selfishness of the human kind. However, there is a conflict of interests within the ghosts in which one extreme opposes the humans completely while another extreme desires the co-existence of humans and ghosts. Kitaro and his family belongs to the latter category and yearns to seek mutual understanding between the humans and ghosts. Kitaro's fight for love and hope continues.

She works for Aoni Production.  She is a Japanese voice actress who has played numerous guest roles throughout the Sailor Moon anime. Her other anime roles include Wonder Maria in Bikkuriman, Chaozu in Dragon Ball and Yopopo in Konjiki no Gash Bell!!.

The classic tale of Gegege no Kitaro told yet again.  The story is the usual in the Gegege no Kitaro series. Kitaro is a boy living in the Gegege Forest/Cemetery (lands where many Yokai roam) with his mostly dead father (who survives only in his eye), Sunakake Babaa, NekoMusume, and Konaki Jiji.  One difference between this Kitaro and all of the others that came before him, is that this one has brown hair instead of the standard grayish silver. 

Keiko Yamamoto was a veteran Japanese voice actress from Osaka Prefecture. Many of her roles have been older women, young boys, or tomboyish young girls.
