Okita is another main character of HSK and he is the captain of the Shinsengumi’s first regiment or troop. He's also a lieutenant along side Hijikata. Okita has a laid back and nonchalant personality and also likes to tease Hijikata, who does get quite annoyed by it. It seems they both are much closer to each other than the other Shinsengumi members as they have been Shinsengumi for a longer time than the others. He's also has been told that he had been the best swordsman in the Shinsengumi by Kaoru.

 ~!Okita dies in episode six, near the ending. He ends up going to the village that Hijikata and Chizuru are currently staying in and overhears some thugs going to kill Hijikata. Thus, Okita decides to defend Hijikata on behalf of Kondou.!~

The protagonist, Yukimura Chizuru, is the daughter of a doctor who works in Edo. The father leaves Edo to work as a volunteer doctor and moves to Kyoto without his daughter. As time passes by, Chizuru starts worrying about losing contact with her father, so she decides to go to Kyoto in search of him. On the way, Chizuru is attacked by few criminals and witnesses a fight between an oni and the Shinsengumi. Taking her into custody and saving her, the Shinsengumi debate on what to do with Chizuru when they discover that she is the daughter of the doctor they are also looking for. So they decide to become Chizuru's protectors and help her look for her father (the doctor). Lots of events happen while she stays with the Shinsengumi, as they discover mysterious secrets and also fight against the Bakumatsu group. The story is overall romantic with a historical and political background.

Yukimura Chizuru goes on a reconnaissance mission in Shimabara as a geiko for the Shinsengumi. Each episode unfolds the events of the days leading up to, during, and after the operation. It intermittently reveals each captain's involvement as well as that of a few demons in the affair. Each individual episode primarily focuses from the third person perspectives of: Okita Souji, Saito Hajime, Harada Sanosuke, Toudou Heisuke, Hijikata Toshizo, and Kazama Chikage.

The battle at Koufu Castle has been lost, the Furies are no longer restrained by daylight, and while the individual members of the Shinsengumi still survive, the links that bound them together have been torn and shattered.

Chizuru Yukimura, who has come to the city of Kyoto in search of her father, has been working with the Shinsengumi since she was saved from a blood-seeking monster. Then, in June of the first year of Keio, the Shinsengumi moved to Nishi Honganji Temple to continue their patrol of Kyoto, and received reports of the frequent appearance of "bandits who assume the name of Shinsengumi. At the same time, Shinsengumi is order to protect the Shogun Iemochi who will visit Kyoto, and Hijikata and the others are in a hurry to solve the case. 

Meanwhile, several rasetsu escape from the Shinsengumi post with the help of "a figure resembling Chizuru." In addition, Chizuru, who had gone to the city with Sakai, the treasurer, are drawn into the fray and goes missing. The Satsuma domain receives information of a plot to assassinate the Shogun by Tosa domain's ronin, and Kazama and the others head for Kyoto. Are the various incidents surrounding the Shinsengumi a coincidence? As everything becomes chaotic and the time until the Shogun's arrival in Kyoto approaches, Hijikata and the Shinsengumi must decide...

Based originally on the famous otome game, this series is Ninomiya Sachi's version of Yukimura Chizuru's story as she arrives in Kyo from Edo to search for her missing father and accidentally meets the members of the Shinsengumi, who harbor an awful secret.  Unique from other versions, this series unfolds a bit out of order, starting already at the Ikedaya-jiken and then progressing with flashbacks.

Based originally on the famous otome game, this series is Hiraku Naki's version of Yukimura Chizuru's story as she arrives in Kyo from Edo to search for her missing father and eventually becomes involved with the Shinsengumi.  This version begins the night that she meets the members for the first time.
