The main character of the series, age fifteen and hailing from the Fuso Empire. A typical young girl who comes from a family of clinicians who use their magic powers to heal people. Yoshika gains the features of a mame-shiba when using said power. Her father designed the Striker Units the Strike Witches use to fight. However, because her father died in the war she is vehemently against fighting when Mio Sakamoto appears to recruit her. Only after entering combat for the first time, helping to defend the Fuso fleet heading to Britannia from a Neuroi attack, does she decide to join the 501st. Now she holds the rank of Sergeant. Yoshika has a talent for cooking, but tends to care more about her food's health benefits than its taste, such as when she introduced the other Witches to natto. Carries a 13mm Type99 Machine gun along with a M712 in battle. In the OVA she had a small gray dog as a familiar which has not yet appeared. Her Striker Unit is modeled after the A6M Zero and she is based on the ace Kaneyoshi Mutoh. Due to events in second season, she gains new Striker, J7W1 Shinden, based on Kyuushuu J7W plane. She seems to love the other girl's breasts.

Cherami Leigh Kuehn is an American voice actress who has provided voices for a number of English-language versions of Japanese anime series and video games with Funimation, Bang Zoom! Entertainment, and Studiopolis. Some of her major roles are: Sae Kashiwagi in Peach Girl, Cecily Campbell in The Sacred Blacksmith, Tamaki Kawazoe in Bamboo Blade, Patty Thompson in Soul Eater, Lucy Heartfilia in Fairy Tail, Asuna Yuuki in Sword Art Online, Iris Heart from the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, and Sailor Venus in the Viz Media dub of Sailor Moon.

On screen, she played a young LeAnn Rimes in the television special Holiday in Your Heart and Kim in Fast Food Nation. In 2014, she had the lead role in Shane Dawson's movie Not Cool, which he developed for the reality competition television series The Chair.

After discovering that Neuroi are capable of communication with humans and making peace with the nest above Gallia the Witches squads are now on a mission to re-establish communication when a sudden attack vanishes the Neuroi; they now discover a new and massive nest that just appeared covering almost all Europe. Ruthless and without mercy it annihilates allied forces along with Witches. Word of the attack reaches Fuso and a support battalion is deployed to rescue the survivors. Among the rescue team is the former Striker captain Mio Sakamoto and the now civilian Yoshika Miyafuji who want to save their dear friends.

A Strike Witches spin-off, featuring the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing, the Brave Witches.

The OVA stands for Operation Victory Arrow, and this operation is set in the period between the end of Operation Mars in the second television series and the 2012 Strike Witches movie. The three 30-minute short stories depict the lives of the members who returned to their respective homes. 
 
To commemorate this new Strike Witches project, there will be special event screenings of the shorts in theaters.

Yoshika Miyafuji joins the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, a defense unit specializing in taking down alien beings known as the Neuroi. However, in days of no invasion, she and the members of the unit are taking down day to day tasks like cooking and laundry.


When an alien force eventually called the &ldquo;Neuroi&rdquo; attacks Earth around the 1940&rsquo;s, the world is devastated by destruction. However, one man is able to lead the invention of an anti-Neuroi weapon known as the &ldquo;Striker unit&rdquo; which augments magical power and also enables flight through two mechanical lower-leg coverings known as a sort of witches &ldquo;broom&rdquo;. Young witches from around the world are gathered together to fight back in a force known as Strike Witches. The inventor, however, was thought to have been killed during service. The daughter of the inventor leads a relatively normal life except for her untrained and incredible magical power which she hopes to use one day in healing. However, she is suddenly whisked away on a search to see if her father is actually alive. She encounters his invention and the possibility of perhaps using it herself.

Countries all over the world formed an alliance to counter the emerging enemy of mankind "Neuroi," whom only girls with special powers could counter. However, the Neuroi never appeared. Yoshika Miyafuji spends her days peacefully after returning to her hometown. Her former superior officer Mio Sakamoto and others arranged for Yoshika to study abroad at a medical school in Europe. Yoshika returns to Europe with Shizuka Hattori, who was Sakamoto's student at the naval academy. As Yoshika returns to Europe and new signs of Neuroi emerge, the other former members of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, who were scattered in various locations, also begin to gather again. A powerful Neuroi then appears before Yoshika and Shizuka.
