Bell Cranel is the captain of the Hestia Familia. Bell was raised by his grandfather in a rural farming village deep within the mountains near the labyrinth city Orario. He had heard and read many stories about heroes from his grandfather, forming his dream of aspiring to be a mighty one himself. After his grandfather's death, he took it upon himself to leave the village, traveling to the land of Orario to fulfill his dreams. Upon his arrival in the city, Bell attempted to enter numerous Familia, but was rejected by each one. Hestia, a Goddess, unable to find members willing to join her Familia, asked him if he'd like to become the first member of her Familia. Bell gladly accepted, and so started his new life, finally with a Goddess' blessing.

Bell is a kind, straightforward, brave, yet shy boy who desires to be a hero like the ones he grew up reading about. He cares deeply for the people around him, especially his Goddess, Hestia, and his Familia. He considers them like family due to the death of his grandfather. Bell's goals didn't start out pure, as he wanted to be an adventurer in hopes of picking up girls, even thinking of starting a harem. However, after his experience with Ais and Bete, Bell seems to have forgone that dream and fell in love with Ais Wallenstein. He became determined to grow stronger so that he could be someone that could stand beside her. Ais saved Bell in an incident with a minotaur and that event made Bell fall in love with her and have fear of Minotaurs.

Some adventurers delve into the sprawling labyrinths beneath the city of Orario to find fame and fortune. Others come to test their skills against the legions of monsters lurking in the darkness below. However, Bell Cranel’s grandfather told him a different reason: it’s a great place to rescue (and subsequently meet) girls! Now that Bell’s a dungeon delver himself, the ladies he’s encountering aren’t the helpless damsels in distress he’d imagined, and one of them, the beautiful swordswoman Ais Wallenstein, keeps rescuing Bell instead. As embarrassing as that is, it’s nothing compared to what happens when goddesses get involved. Freya, Hephaistos, and Loki, with their powerful Familias, are intimidating enough, but there’s one goddess whose relationship with Bell is certain to spark trouble.

There's rarely a dull moment when you're the champion of a tiny Familia, and things only get rougher for Bell when the God Apollo declares war on Hestia and her followers. With Apollo's Familia able to field a hundred times as many men, Hestia will have to work a lot of favors to keep her Familia from being completely destroyed. 
 
Even if Bell and Hestia manage to pull off the impossible, a major debt that Hestia owes is about to come due and Lili's sordid past comes back to haunt her! Which means that when Bell and his friends come to Lili's aid, it sets into motion yet another impending clash of the titans that may destroy everything!

Bell and Ryu end up in the 37th floor, which is a Deep Floor. The rest of the party are at level 27, facing the level boss Amphisbaena. They have to defeat the level boss, in order to save Bell. At the same time, Bell and Ryu have to find a way to stay alive on a floor with strong monsters while having to avoid the Juggernaut.

Contrary to what the adventures of Bell and the Goddess Hestia might imply, not everyone goes into the dungeon of Orario to pick up girls. The veterans of the Goddess Loki’s Familia have lots of reasons for risking life and limb facing the monsters and mayhem lurking within the deadly labyrinth’s multiple levels, but new member and mage Lefiya just wants to prove that she’s worthy to be on the same team as her hero, the famed sword princess Ais Wallenstein. As for Ais herself, she’s seeking something that no one else even suspects, and she may find it when trouble comes after her from the previously unreached 59th level!
