Taichi Yagami is the protagonist in the anime and manga Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure tri.. He is a major supporting character in Digimon Adventure 02. He is a DigiDestined, partnered with Agumon, and the bearer of the Crest of Courage. He is the older brother of Hikari Yagami.

Taichi is energetic and adventurous. He is also acts impulsively and rushes without thinking the consequences, especially when his friends are in danger but is quick to realize and admit he has been wrong, and does whatever it takes to fix his mistakes. Despite his flaws, Taichi is very caring and considerate of others, even if his actions may cause some people to think otherwise. It takes time for him to learn how to be a leader, but eventually he grows into the unifying force that leads all the other DigiDestined and keeps them together.

Kaito is a teenager who seemed less interested in actual dinosaurs even when his father helped to design the Dinoterium, a place that is a tribute to dinosaurs. When he stumbles upon the Dragozaurs stealing a local life force, his cry for the sake of life reawakens the Dino Knights and since then, he has been their ally. He hangs out at the gas station where Iketani, Takumi and Itsuki work from time to time, usually discussing cars and driving techniques with Iketani and Yuichi. He has respect and admiration for Iketani and Takumi; Iketani since he is the leader of the Speed Stars and Takumi for his driving skills. Manato Sawatari is a student at St. Paulia's Private School, and is a photographer on the school paper. He's popular with the girls on campus, but becomes interested in Meimi after she shows interest in his photograph (rather than in his looks as other girls do). Unknown to Sawatari, Meimi's interest was false, as she was trying to obtain information for a theft. He also seems to have an interest in Meimi's friend Seira.   Asuka Jr. and Rina both call Sawatari by the name "Saruwatari" when mad with him. Saru is the Japanese word for monkey. In the English translation of the manga, it's changed to "So-What-tari."

Kiyomaro is a genius junior high student (Middle school student in Japan) who doesn't have any friends because people around jealous of him being too smart. He is soon given Gash to care for by his father. Gash makes Kiyomaro believe in himself and together they fight other mamonos to become the King of Mamonos.  

Hoshikawa Subaru is the main protagonist of the series. After performing a Denpa-Henkan with War-Rock, he is referred to by the name Rockman.  A genial but a bit lonely fifth-grade student, Subaru mourns the disappearance of his father that occurred three years prior, and has neglected school as a result. After being confronted by his classmates who pester him to return to school, he heads to an observing platform where he discovers the fugitive FM-life form (in fact a survivor of the AM Planet's destruction) War-Rock by donning the Visualizer glasses left to him by his father, which allow him to view the EM Wave World. War-Rock, having stolen the mysterious Andromeda Key from the FM King, claims to have knowledge of the boy's missing parent. The two are able to merge together, and Subaru uses this new found power to protect his friends and others from the invading FM-life forms. At first War-Rock is put off by this because the feelings Subaru feels are foreign to him. War-Rock has a personal agenda of protecting the Andromeda Key, but as that runs side by side with protecting the Earth, he slowly begins to care for the planet as well as care about Subaru. Ryuuhou is widely regarded as the strongest HOLY member. He develops a strong rivalry with Kazuma, the only native alter on Lost Ground to escape HOLY, continuously foil HOLY's plans afterwards, and fight Ryuuhou one-on-one without being defeated instantly.

A bright child, Koji has learned a lot about archeology from his father, though he possesses no special powers, beyond a startling knack for being right where he needs to be, in the middle of coincidental Predacon attacks.
