Kino is the main character of [Kino's Journey](https://anilist.co/anime/486/Kinos-Journey/). They are a composed, stoic, and precocious teenager who travels with their motorrad, [Hermes](https://anilist.co/character/88/Hermes), in search of a country with specific desired characteristics. Their gender is ambiguous.

~!In Land of Adults, Kino's sex is confirmed to be female. They borrow the name "Kino" from [Kino](https://anilist.co/character/3872/Kino) - a traveler they met before his death. Their birth name is left unstated, but there are implications in the anime that their name is "Sakura".!~

Kino was born in the Land of Adults with the name of a flower. They dislike it as it resembles that of an insult, which resulted in them being teased. Their original name is never explicitly stated. Their father describes the flower that their named for as a bright red prairie flower that, while short lived, blooms in abundance in the fields just beyond the borders of their home country during their birthday.

Kino is a 15-year-old traveler. Although they appear apathetic at first, they are a caring and understanding person. They travel through different countries to experience their customs and understand their histories, but never stay longer than three days. They are afraid of settling down, because it would cause them to no longer be a traveler.

Kino is an excellent marksman with amazing speed, agility, and accuracy. They initially traveled with a revolver persuader "Canon" which takes six .44 caliber bullets that they used solely for the execution or maiming of other humans or hunting. They were later gifted with a semi-auto persuader, "Woodsman" which replaced their revolver's purpose of hunting. They use "Woodsman" if they are hunting down other humans without an intent to harm or kill. Kino is rarely known to use a sniper persuader "Flute," but when they do, it is used for hunting and long-distance combat. They make use of many knives hidden in various locations in their clothing for cooking, distraction, and close-combat. They also carry a ballistic knife that doubles as a triple-barrelled gun complete with a laser sight as a final deception tactic when they are cornered. They use all of their weapons with extreme proficiency, if not flawlessly.

While adept at being a survivalist, they have a knack to disappear with impeccable timing to prevent physical and/or emotional harm. They often monologue many times to Hermes that they are no "God" and will only take in their environment and the many countries that they visits as they are. Although they is persuaded many times to sway events into the favour of many people during their travels, they are never tempted to follow up proving their unwavering discipline to their principle; "The world is not beautiful; and that, in a way, lends it a sort of beauty." Their honesty is brutal, and their self-loyalty trumps all of their actions. However, they are known to assist others out of their own inconvenience simply because Kino wants to.

Kino has a sweet tooth; it is used as comic relief against a bleak backdrop of survival and hardships of traveling. Another source of comic relief is their preference for tidiness; they are vexed whenever they cannot maintain a well maintained physical figure/appearance.

Rumors say that that Boogiepop is a reaper that kills people when they are at their most beautiful point in life. Unknown to them, Boogiepop is normally dormant, rising to the surface when enemies of the world appear. Boogiepop's appearance and voice are ambiguous: they seem both masculine and feminine at the same time. However, hidden beneath their signature black cloak and black, pipe-shaped hat, little is ever seen of them. Straight-faced and to the point, Boogiepop acts as mechanical as they claim to be. Although they are known to make "asymmetrical faces" from time to time. Boogiepop speaks in an archaic manner​ and seems fond of whistling the overture to Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

The alternate protagonist of the Boogiepop Series. She is an ordinary student at Shinyo Academy, the girlfriend of Keiji Takeda, and a good friend of Kazuko Suema. Unbeknownst to most, though, including herself, Touka hosts the mysterious entity known as Boogiepop inside her mind.

Marika is the daughter of a wealthy, well-to-do family. She has a meddling personality, and developed a crush for Kippei the moment she saw him.

She appears as one of the participants at the preliminaries to regional piano concours, who got angry about Amamiya and was crying. Kai cheered her up and gave her inspiration for the future. So, she found her own style of playing.  She calls Kai "Wendy" because he has hair color like pet dog. Her favorite place is the restroom, where she is usually sitting with her dog, Wendy.  She has four successfull siblings. She was trying to impress them and her parents by her play, and finally she did it.

Azusa Shiratori is the female half of "The Golden Pair of Kolhotz High School". She is well known for her obsession for collecting things that she regards as being cute and then giving them names, usually with a French origin. "Azusa" means "catalpa tree" while "Shiratori" means "white bird".

Azusa is very unintelligent (a "half-wit" in the words of Kuno) and strange even by the standards of the series. Shiratori is a kleptomaniac and feels the need to take random objects and people regardless of ownership. If Azusa is denied, she will throw a childish tantrum and resort to violence, until she either has the object returned or is shouted at to stop.

It is worthy of note that the "level" of Azusa's kleptomania varies between the manga and anime continuities, with her being only shown to have in her possession one object at a time in the manga (the only possible exception being her having "Françoise" and "Charlotte" at the same time, although Akane was technically in possession of "Charlotte" at the time). In contrast, the anime shows Azusa as having multiple objects in her possession at the same time, each with it's own name (Azusa will also greet each object individually in the morning and evening) all of which reside in her home.

Heir to a prominent family of spiritualists, Maya is Phoenix&#039;s obligatory perky sidekick during all three games. Optimistic, curious, and excitable, Maya is a fan of all things Steel Samurai and while not the brightest, she does her best to assist Phoenix.  Maya grew up in Kurain, training to be a spiritual medium. She is destined to become the heir to the village after her mother's disappearance and sister's departure. Despite her sister's departure, they remain close. Maya&#039;s spiritual powers are still somewhat underdeveloped, and she has trouble calling spirits sometimes.

Murasaki is the daughter of Souju and Renjo Kuhōin. The Kuhōin family maintains a tradition that their offspring must be of pure blood. As a result, women in the Kuhōin family are in a completely submissive role and considered objects only for the purpose of breeding. They are confined in a remote area known as the Inner Sanctuary. As her dying wish, Souju pleaded to Benika to one day fulfill a wish for Murasaki. When Murasaki became seven years old, she wished to fall in love just as her mother did. She understood that her mother endured in the Inner Sanctuary because of her love for Renjo. Benika, to keep her promise to Souju, helped Murasaki escape from Inner Sanctuary and entrusted her to Shinkurō.    Although she was stubborn and snobbish, Shinkurō was quick to scold her if she did anything wrong. As a result, Murasaki quickly learned how to behave as a &quot;commoner&quot; and begins to trust Shinkurō. She also makes friends with the other residents at May Rain. However, after a while, Murasaki is kidnapped and taken back to Inner Sanctuary. After hearing from Benika the truth behind Inner Sanctuary, Shinkurō vows to meet Murasaki again to hear her true feelings. When confronted by Shinkurō, Murasaki reveals that she does not wish to live in Inner Sanctuary and Shinkurō proceeds to save Murasaki from her fate in the Kuhōin family.    Murasaki grows very attached to Shinkurō. Despite being only seven years old, she gets jealous when Shinkurō gets close to other girls. She has expressed her desire to marry Shinkurō. However, because she is still young, she wants to wait until she is older before she confesses her love for Shinkurō.    In the anime, Murasaki remains in Kuhoin Mansion on the condition that the entire system changes and she be given the choice to choose her partner.

Jariten, known to everyone as "Ten" is [Lum](https://anilist.co/character/4835)'s little cousin.

Ten is a bratty and smart-mouthed alien toddler. Like all oni, Ten has powers of his own. He can fly and breathe fire. But he is an inexperienced child so his flying is awkward and slow, and his fire breathing isn't always effective.

Ten is a child, but sure doesn't act his age. He has a certain level of adult intelligence which is quite shocking for someone still in diapers. One result of being precocious is that Ten only has eyes for older women. Yet Ten is still essentially a child and quite naive. Around women he is usually cute and diminutive. When he's near men he's his usual self. Loud, pesky and often aggressive.

Ten came to earth to meet Lum's new husband [Ataru](https://anilist.co/character/4834) but was disappointed at what he found. From the moment they've met, Ataru and Ten have been at each other's throats. Because Ataru is such an idiot, Ten doesn't think he deserves Lum. Therefore he decides to live with them to keep an eye on Ataru.

Sakura is a girl from the country Kino visited in the last episode of the anime series. She shares many similarities to Kino, such as her parents also owning an inn. In the English version of the anime series, her name is changed to Lily in order to preserve the explanation that her name, pronounced slightly differently, becomes an insult. The children call her &quot;Silly Willy&quot; instead of &quot;mekura&quot; (盲, &quot;mekura&quot;? meaning &quot;ignorant&quot;) and &quot;dokura&quot; (どくら, &quot;dokura&quot;? meaning &quot;poison&quot;) in this version.

Mina Tepes is the queen of all vampires, but is called out as princess because of her child-like figure which she uses to disguise herself.

Mina's child form is in a prepubescent stage around 10 years old (due to awakening her vampire powers early; her growth was slowed for several centuries). She has crimson eyes, fangs, and blond hair. Her hair is usually tied up in twin tails with three, black tailed, identical ribbons used as the bands/hair ties to hold them up.

The heroine of the story. Victorique has the appearance of a small, almost doll-like, girl with long golden hair and emerald eyes and a voice that sounds exactly like that of an older woman. It is mentioned once that she is 15 years old. Another important part of Victorique's appearance is a pipe that she smokes when thinking about something. She spends her days at the conservatory at the top of the library, reading several difficult books, often in different languages, simultaneously. She points at one wall of the library and has told Kazuya that she has read almost all the books over there. Along with her sharp tongue, abusive bluntness and eccentric attitude, she possesses amazing detective skills. She enjoys "reconstructing chaos" and often complains of the boredom that causes her headaches. Victorique also seems to love sweets, since she's always really happy when Kujo gets her anything sweet.

The young Prince of Silverland, Sapphire is in reality a girl, but must pretend to be a boy in order to inherit the throne and prevent the evil Duke Duralumon from taking power. Her personality is more refined than tomboyish, but she's good with a sword and at night fights crime as the masked Phantom Knight. She's good-hearted, has a strong sense of justice and is competent and level-headed as well. Although most of her time is spent as Prince Sapphire, later in the series she is able to go about as a girl (wearing a blonde wig) in the persona of the Princess, Prince Sapphire's sister. In this way she is able to court Prince Frank.

A young underground doctor who lives with Celty and is also her lover.  He mostly remains indoors and wears his white doctor's coat even when he is not at work.  He went to the same primary school as Shizuo and Izaya and finds them interesting, enjoying their fights ... up to a point. His father was also a doctor, and as a child,​ Shinra participated in surgery alongside him, the most notable being an autopsy on Celty when they first met.  As a doctor he is rather interested in what he considers to be interesting phenomena, such as the unlimited strength Shizuo shows in times of anger, and Celty's healing, headlessness and bodily functions.   Shinra seems to have the "capacity" to tell what Celty is feeling, much to her surprise since she doesn't have a head to show her emotions.

A first-year and leading member of the Red Tails. Chiaki rarely speaks and dispatches her enemies swiftly with a pair of modified air-guns hidden under her skirt (actually, she can use up to four guns at the same time). She is very loyal to Kunieda even after she leaves the gang, and is ready to shoot anyone other than Oga who makes advances on her. She is the first to recognise that Kunieda is in love with Oga and thinks it very cute, as opposed to Nene. She is an expert video game player, often playing with her little brother, and Kanzaki gives her the nickname &quot;Akichi&quot; (an inversion of the syllables of her name) to signify her gaming persona.

Ichigo is a a young girl with an incredible sweet tooth - frequently ignored by her mother for having no special talent compared to her younger sister, Natsume, who plays the piano very well. Because she has an incredible palate (one that is able to tell immediately what ingredients are used in different sweets) she is spotted by Henri Lucas during a Sweets Festa. She therefore transfers to St Marie Academy in order to train to become a p&acirc;tissi&egrave;re, like her grandmother. 
Her dream is to make sweets that make the people eating them smile. All the sweet princes have shown signs that they like Ichigo, for which she also reprocates for a select few.

The main heroine of the series. She is cheerful and energetic, always moving around whenever she&#039;s not sitting down. She can transform into a cat with the help of a locket. She is frequently seen with her sister Rimu.

Itsuki's younger sister and Yuzuki's step-sister, who is a year older than her. She is quite fond of her older brother, and is irritated by Yuzuki, saying that she acts nice just for attention. She has also been known to tell lies in order to make Yuzuki upset. She seems to mischievous and loves to cause trouble. She shows a slight interest in Haruto.

The technological genius Blue Savant and heiress of the Kunagisa household. Tomo is a young girl who is well versed in computer engineering, capable of crafting computers that are much more powerful that anything on the market. Most known for being the leader of Team, a collection of genius hackers. Due to Tomo's renowned computer genius, she is invited to Wet Crow's Feather Island by Iria Akagami. Tomo brings Ii with her, to help her get around. 

Tomo stands out like no other, having blue hair and eyes due to recessive genes. Her hair may get even darker if she refuses to wash it, becoming ultramarine, which can happen often as she hates taking baths. Due to this, Ii usually just throws her into a bathtub. Ii also tied up her hair in many ways, from braids to quadtails. Tomo herself enjoys fun, though she is not the best at being sociable, as she rarely listens to others besides the task at hand. Unlike most people, Tomo thinks somewhat backwards. Ii describes her thinking as instead of building a sand castle with what's needed, Tomo simply has a whole pile of sand and removes what isn't needed. Additionally, she is nearly incapable of expressing anything other than happiness, besides a tad of minor annoyance.

As the leader of Team, Tomo bears the title of "Walking Wrath." She manages all of Team, and will get assistance from the other members for whichever goal she has in mind. Team itself is a cyber-terrorist organization that preforms many illegal actions to either get information or money. They rarely get caught, though there is one close call and they end up disbanding, all of which happens while Ii is in Houston. ~!It's later revealed that Tomo is worshipped as a god among the cyber-terrorist team. Tomo appears to treat them equally, but there are questionable times where she may think of them as slaves.!~
~!At the end of the series, Tomo's hair becomes nearly black and she begins to grow again. Prior to this, she had the same appearance ever since Ii left for Houston.!~

Aoi Yabusaki, better known by her stage name Aoi Yuuki, is a Japanese actress, voice actress and singer represented by Pro-Fit.

Yuuki entered the entertainment industry at the age of four. As a child, she acted in films and dramas. From 1999 to 2002, she made regular appearances on the variety shows Appare Sanma Dai-sensei and Yappari Sanma Dai-sensei which aired on Fuji TV. When she was in fifth grade, she made her debut as a voice actress as [Sakura](https://anilist.co/character/15429/) on [Kino's Journey](https://anilist.co/anime/486/).

In late 2006, she was affiliated with the theater company Central. After her admission to high school in August 2007, she joined the agency Breath, whilst changing her stage name to Aoi Yuuki. In 2008, she got her first major role in [Kure-nai](https://anilist.co/anime/3358/) as [Murasaki Kuhouin](https://anilist.co/character/10174/). In August of the same year, she moved to the agency Pro-Fit.

In October 2011, she won the Newtype award for best lead voice actress for her role as [Madoka Kaname](https://anilist.co/character/37832/) in [Puella Magi Madoka Magica](https://anilist.co/anime/9756/).
