Franky is a cyborg who is the shipwright of the Straw Hat Pirates. He first appeared in the Water 7 arc. Franky is one of "Tom's Workers".  Franky's dream is to build a ship that would travel to the end of the Grand Line. This is the ship that the Straw Hats are currently riding, but his dream is not yet achieved until they make it to the end.  Franky usually acts tough and is quickly angered, but he is also very emotional when it comes to sad tales and often bursts into large tears, or on some occasions, plays a song. His most distinguishable personality trait is his flamboyant attitude. He frequently shouts the word 'SUPER' when he's in a positive mood, or adds it into his speech. He also has a signature pose which he uses very often.  Franky is quick to defend other people (eg. Franky Family, Nico Robin) and take action if his friends are harmed. He is also quick in making friends, allies, and comrades with even the most unlikely of individuals. Because of this, he is seen as a 'big brother' figure. Monkey D. Luffy bears similar qualities (with the exception of engaging in unnecessary fights) and because of this, despite the disputes the two had in the past, both grew to respect each other during the events of the Enies Lobby Arc.

The sheriff and mayor of Cocoyashi Village (Coco Village in the 4kids version), which is Nami's home town. He is like a father figure to Nami and Nojiko since they were kids and he knew their adoptive mother, Bellemere, quite well. He also kept the town together after Arlong took over the island, making sure everyone was safe and able to pay their tax.

Genzo wears a pinwheel on his hat because he used it to make Nami laugh when she was a baby (this pinwheel also inspired an attack for Luffy during their fight with Arlong). He played a role in rescuing Luffy after Arlong threw him into the ocean. All of Genzo's scars are from his first encounter with Arlong when he tried to stop him from taking Nami, Arlong made Kuroobi cut every part of his body with a sword. He was also almost killed by Arlong for hoarding novelty swords, until Usopp saved him. Genzo's pinwheel inspired Nami's new tattoo--a pinwheel to represent him with a tangerine to represent Bellemere. After Nami sails off with Luffy and crew, Genzo says he no longer needs his pinwheel, placing it by Bellemere's grave. The origin of the pinwheel is then revealed. Bell-Mere said that Nami cried when she saw Genzo because he looked scary, but then Genzo put his pinwheel on to make Nami laugh. It is revealed later in the manga that Luffy is very interested in the pinwheel (this inspires a new attack for Luffy, Gomu Gomu No Pinwheel), not even noticing the Navy who are trying to find Nami, just Genzo's pinwheel. However, this could be a put down in reference to Luffy's simple-mindedness. He threatens Luffy that if he finds out that he made Nami cry, he'll come after him. However, Luffy lived up to that promise, as Nami's sister, Nojiko pointed out. 

Genzo appears again later, and is outraged by Nami's wanted poster, wherein she is in a bikini, saying she'll get more suitors than bounty hunters, yet has blown it up poster-sized hanging in his house.


Sumilidon is Koji&#039;s Medabot. He is not much of a talker, usually only speaking when spoken to or when it is extremely important. He is a strong contender and his specialty is the Shadow Sword. During the robattle with team U.S.A. Sumilidon gained the ability to use the Medaforce, though many believed that it was because he had a rare medal that was not the case as Dr. Aki ran multiple test on Sumilidon&#039;s medal and the results being inconclusive. It is never truly explained how Sumilidon could use the Medaforce Dr. Aki had a theory that Sumilidon might have had some ancestral connections to the rare medals giving him the Medaforce but this is just a theory.

Garp is a Marine hero who was famous for cornering the late Pirate King, Gold Roger, numerous times in his career. Garp is considered by Whitebeard as one of the few people that know the seas from the time of Roger.

~!It is later revealed that his real name is Monkey D. Garp (モンキー・D・ガープ) and he is also the father of Monkey D. Dragon and the grandfather of Monkey D. Luffy.!~

Garp is first introduced in Koby's mini-series as the Marine officer in charge of escorting Captain Morgan. However after falling asleep, Morgan makes his escape by striking Garp and taking Helmeppo as a hostage, fleeing on a small dingy. Garp then wakes up unharmed, apparently breaking a cannon in the process of waking up. When Koby begs to chase after the two, Garp allows Koby to persue them. Upon the boys return they offer themselves to be punished, but Garp instead proposes a different course of action. He states that the pair of them are nothing but trouble and the only way to ensure they still in line is that he takes charge of the pair. He takes them back to Marine HQ where he begins to train them to become great Marine Officers.
