A young man with a strong feeling for justice, and who worships [Kira](https://anilist.co/character/80/Yagami-Light) and refers to him as "God". He is prepared to help Kira by any means, even if it means sacrificing his own life.

Mikami works as a lawyer, and was bullied for standing up for what is right when he was younger in school. He was an excellent student and did well academically. He became a prosecuting agent to impose the punishment that criminals deserved. Mikami lives alone and likes to work out consistently, even on New Year's Day. He's maniacally rigorous and punctual, and overall he's a talented and intelligent person who has the tendency to act in a way that is described as "Kira-like".

Stephen works for Near as part of his investigation team, along with Lidner and Rester, and later plays an important role in stopping Kira. When suspicions arise towards Mikami, Near assigns Gevanni the task of following him, studying his methodic lifestyle, and finding his connections to the Death Note. Before the final showdown with Light at the warehouse, Near has Gevanni steal both the fake and real Death Notes from Mikami, and tampers one of the fake's pages. 

He also creates another fake, replacing the real one, that is later used as Light's ultimate downfall, and ends up being Near's key to proving Light's identity as Kira. While looking for the SPK members's real names, Mikami views his real name as Stephen Loud through his Shinigami Eyes.  

In the one-shot chapter set three years after Light's death, while he didn't have any speaking lines and much any involvement in the short story, he did appear in one panel alongside Rester and Lidner. This suggests that he may still be working with them under the new L, Near

Nicknamed "Dr. Bear" for his physically huge body, Greg Egan is an iconoclastic scientist who was also part of the Tresor research team that initially studied Eureka and her relationship with the Nirvash. He was renowned as an 'out-of-the-box' thinker capable of combining various theories into a workable gestalt. He was previously married to Mischa of Gekkostate, and tends to act as if they were still lovers — for instance, he calls her "My little cub" and "kuma-chan", the latter meaning "bear". His behaviour often prompts Mischa to take an even sterner tone than usual with him. He is fond of candy, often has a stash of it somewhere on his person, and once told Renton that the candy was part of an important memory in his relationship with Mischa.   Possessing many insights on the Scub Coral, the Coralians, LFOs, and Eureka, Bear is both stunned and overjoyed to learn that from a scientific viewpoint they were found to be almost identical to the Vodarac teachings of Norb; the similarities were revealed in a taped meeting aboard the Gekko. The underground video of this, along with the information published in Ray=Out became one of the main factors for many people, including some military leaders, to reject what Dewey's group was doing. Zarude is a bipedal Pokémon that resembles a monkey. Its body is mainly black with greyish tints. Four green rings surround each of its two arms along with two identical green markings on its hands. It has green eyes with red sclera along with a long black tail. On its chest is a gray marking resembling that of a rib-cage.
