The wisest of the seven samurai. He is the samurai who assumes the leader position and comes up with the plan(s) to defend the village. He&#039;s brave, strong, and has wisdom beyond his years that has come from the many battles he has fought in his life. However, all the battles he fought were for the losing side, and Kambei lives in the shadow of his painful and stigmatic past. He uses a stylized katana, though on several occasions, he uses two swords at once. He is selected by Kirara to lead the villagers against the bandits when her water crystal reacts to his passing in the city. At first Kambei disregards Katsushiro and Kikuchiyo as too inexperienced and immature to defend the village, but eventually recognizes both as full samurai and makes them the fifth and seventh, respectively.

Nicknamed "The Serpent" for his reincarnation ability, Roa was a priest of the church that sought immortality and tricked Arcueid into drinking blood hidden within a rose, causing her to go berserk and wipe out almost all the True Ancestors, and also turning Roa into one of the most powerful Dark Apostles, to the point where he was strong enough to defeat Altrouge Brunestud when she tried to "teach him a lesson" as the rest of the Dark Apostles saw him as a upstart. 

His original body was finally defeated by a coalition comprised of Arcueid and the Burial Agency, and he has been re-incarnating ever since then. By the time of Tsukihime he has already re-incarnated 17 times and been destroyed by Arcueid each time as she seeks to gain her stolen power back, and perhaps to achieve some measure of revenge. Roa has 2 requirements for choosing the host of his next reincarnation, his family must have a high social standing so he would be born into luxury, and a body with a high potential. His last host was Ciel, who was chosen in haste and thus was born into a bakery's family but instead had a body with an extremely high physical and magical potential. The thirteenth successor to the sword art of Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu, Hiko Seijuro saved young Shinta from marauding bandits who killed his companions. Hiko then took care of Shinta, and renamed him Kenshin ("Heart of Sword") after claiming that Shinta was not a good name for a swordsman. He became angry and disappointed with Kenshin, because he ran away to join the rebellion against the Tokugawa regime. He shut himself away from the rest of the world; he lives as a potter close to the forest near Kyoto. In Seisouhen/Reflection, he also realizes that the Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu no longer seems relevant in the changing world, as he remarks to Yahiko: "The only thing that doesn't seem to change is the moon."  Hiko is perhaps the strongest swordsman around; he is way too superior even to Kenshin. Although the two are comparable in speed, Hiko possesses a superior sense of judgement in combat and the superhuman strength (hidden, and even suppressed, underneath his heavy cloak) to wield Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu to its maximum. After fifteen years, master and student meet once more. It is then that Kenshin will complete his training, if Kenshin can survive Hiko's ego.  The cloak is not only distinctive for all Hiten Mitsurugi masters, but it also serves to strengthen them in peacetime. Even when conflict is not at the door, Hiko remains in training just by wearing it, as it is composed of several heavy materials that weigh him down and force him to work out because of counter-springs with pressure of around 37.5 kilograms. Watsuki mentions in the manga that he based the billowy capes' image on Spawn of Image Comics by Todd McFarlane (the size of the collar pieces was reduced in the anime).  The name Hiko Seijuro is in fact a title granted to each succeeding master of Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu. Since Hiko Seijuro II, each new master has discarded his own name in favor of the name of the creator of Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu. As Kenshin declines to take the name "Hiko Seijuro XIV", his master is the last man ever to be known as Hiko Seijuro.

Bunta Fujiwara is the owner of a tofu shop in Akina, and the father of Takumi. He used to be the No.1 downhill racer in Mt. Akina years ago, but he no longer races, preferring to guide Takumi's racing development. He is the original driver of the mysterious AE86 that holds the record of the fastest downhill time at Akina. Bunta has a unique way of training his son to drive; every morning when Takumi delivers tofu, Bunta gives Takumi a cup of water. The cup of water is placed in the drink holder; Takumi must not spill even a drop of it while he is driving. This is ostensibly to prevent breaking the tofu in the boot, but it forces Takumi to drive very smoothly. As for Bunta, he is still considered the fastest downhill racer in Akina. We see proof of this early in the series as he pushes the Trueno with Yuuichi in the passenger seat lighting a cigarette while drifting around a corner.  Season Four:  ~!Later in the series, Takumi used the Trueno more than Bunta, so he gave the car to Takumi. While test driving a Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type R Version V on Akina, Bunta defeated his son, inducing a 4WD complex in Takumi. Bunta decided to buy the car, but hid this fact from Takumi for some time (Fourth Stage, 14th episode). After revealing that he was the driver, he then told Takumi he was to alternate between the Impreza and his Eight-Six for deliveries - another strategy to improve Takumi as a driver, showing him the potential of modern cars, and the characteristics of 4WD. While this shows his training strategy, we still see that Bunta is, once again, proven to be the most formidable opponent in Akina.  (Trivia: There is a lot of confusion about Bunta’s car. It is a Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type R version 5. Many confuse his car with the legendary Subaru Impreza 22B. A veteran samurai who fought valiantly for the Aizu clan during the Meiji restoration, acting as one of the commanders for their saboteur runs and assassinations. Also the master and creator of the Psychi Kamina sword style. However during the war Shigure lost his best friend and comrade Gentatsu (unknowingly to the hands of the Hitokiri Battousai during an attempted raid on the Choshu clan leaders who were planning an alliance with a rival clan at Suzuya.)     Shigure has burdened himself with Gentatsu&#039;s death and tries to make amends by housing and taking care of Gentatsu&#039;s younger sister Toki. However in secret with one of the other Aizu clan generals (a man named Kajiki) have gather survivors of the Aizo army and plan a new restoration to eliminate the Meiji government and to make Japan how he and Gentasu envisioned it should be.    He befriends Kenshin Himura after hastily dealing with some foreign sailors who were harassing Toki. Kenshin is warned by Hajime Saito about Shigure&#039;s dealings and activities. Kenshin brushes the warning off until he encounters Shigure in the midst of an assault on the British embassy. They fight then Shigure recognizes the swordplay kenshin uses and realizes Kenshin murdered Gentatsu, which enrages him to become more intense. The battle is cut short as Shigure retreats due to his army being overwhelmed.    Kenshin follows to a nearby fort where the Aizu remnant have barricaded themselves. With help from Sanosuke Sagara, Kenshin confronts Shigure one last time. After a while a teary eyed Toki runs in to embrace him telling him he&#039;s had enough fighting. Shigure succumbs to his emotions and breaks down saying that Kenshin had honoured Gentasu&#039;s death more than him.    A squad of imperial police led by Captain Tomino (a police officer who had conspired with Kajiki to betray Shigure in order to get promoted.) burst in to the establishment firing at  any opposition. Shigure shields Toki taking several bullets to his back. Shigure dies quickly afterwards whilst trying to apologize to Toki. Kenshin explodes violently nearly reverting to his Battousai form and charges towards Tomino. resisting at the last second to avoid killing Tomino. Tomino superior enters and arrests Tomino, meanwhile Kajiki&#039;s attempt to escape the situation is halted when he is killed by Hajime Saito.

North Kaio (北の界王, Kita no Kaiō?) (English dubs: King Kai, North Kai) is the Kaio of the quadrant of the galaxy where the planets Earth and Namek reside. In the English manga, he is also known as Kaiô-sama or Lord of the Worlds. Claiming himself to be very humorous; he will only teach his subordinates if they laugh at his non-comedic jokes (really bad puns in the original Japanese). He can only train those who can reach the end of Snakeway. He trained Goku, who succeeded in doing so and taught him very powerful techniques that have been essential to many of his battles: including the Genki Dama (Spirit Bomb in English dubs) and the Kaio Ken. While Ikki is officially recognized as a bronze saint, his base power easily places him well above most silver saints, and his reputation as a powerhouse is common knowledge among his peers and fellow Bronze saints. Even as a child, Ikki was known as the toughest kid of the 100 orphans, and would often defend his delicate younger brother Andromeda Shun from the other children. He could easily be recognized as the strongest bronze saint when it comes to raw power.

Shadi is the guardian of the tomb, the original resting place of the seven Millennium Items. He is the reincarnation of one of the Pharaoh's six priests 3,000 years ago. Because he was killed by Bakura at least five years ago, he is actually a ghost whenever he appears in the anime series. Shadi carries the Millennium Scales and the Millennium Ankh.

Rou Dai Kaioushin is a Kaioushin who came out of the Z sword, in which he had been trapped and stuck to the ground by an old enemy, according to him a "incredibly strong evil fellow". He resembles the East Kaioushin, but with an older, wrinkled face, and a small mustache. Son Gohan releases him during the Majin Buu Saga when he breaks the Zeta sword, while trying to cut a block made of the strongest material in the universe. After being released, he agreed to help Gohan unlock his full potential so he could defeat Majin Buu, but only in exchange for getting to date an Earth woman.  Centuries ago, he used to be quite handsome by his own standards, but a hideous witch came up to him and stole one of his Potara Fusion Earrings and put it on. Ro Dai Kaioushin was instantly combined with the witch permanently. While he lost his looks, he gained more magical power. In the Majin Buu Saga he sacrifices his life so Son Goku can live, and gives him the Potara earrings to fuse with Gohan on Earth. However, as he was already residing in heaven, his death had little effect aside from producing a halo over his head. He was once famous because of his roughness and many players were scared of him. But, Hyuga is actually a gentle boy who cares about his family and friends.

Passionate about computers and electronic communication, he is shown as working with Eiri Masami at Tachibana Labs. He subtly pushes Lain, his daughter, toward the Wired and monitors her development until she becomes aware of her condition.

Jadeite is the first of the four Shitennou to appear, and the lowest in rank. He is the head of the Dark Kingdom's Far-Eastern Division. In the manga, Jadeite's mission was to track down the Silver Crystal but eventually led to gathering life energy to awaken Queen Metaria. His powers include telekinetics, creating illusions, and using disguises. He is able to teleport and harvest energy for the Dark Kingdom.

Dosu is a genin from the Sound Village, and leader of his squad. They were under the direct supervision of Orochimaru during the chunin exams. Dosu uses a sound amplifying device on his left arm, called a melody arm, to increase the vibrations he makes when he hits something, causing damage to the opponents ears and messes up their sense of balance. He is the only member of his squad to advance to the second stage in the chunin exams after defeating Choji Akimichi. When he learns that Orochimaru favors Sasuke more than him, Dosu sets out to prove himself by killing Gaara. However, Gaara's demon quickly kills him with a sweep of its giant tail.

King Vegeta was the king of the Saiyans, and is mentioned several times in the manga, however only appears in filler episodes and movies. Believed to have been the strongest Saiyan, in the manga, it was said that he had been surpassed by his own child, also named Vegeta. Before the attack on Planet Vegeta, he realized that Freeza was afraid of the Saiyans, and he coordinated an assault on Freeza. According to the anime filler, his attempt to attack Freeza failed as he was easily killed. The Saiyan elites that followed were also defeated by Freeza. In the movie Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, he ordered both Broly and his father Paragus&#039; to be killed, because he was afraid of Broly&#039;s abnormally high power.    King Vegeta is only seen in the anime special, the film Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, and in some original scenes in the anime series. He can transmute without circles, because when he died, he saw past the gate, as did Dante. !~  He (in the manga and 2009 series) is...  ~! a human Philosopher's Stone. Homunculus (Father) was a test subject at a lab in which Hohenheim worked (in fact, Father was the one who named Hohenheim). The king of Xerxes demanded the secret of immortality from the homunculus, and he obliged. a country wide transmutation is formed, and everything is working as planned. However, at the last minute, Father lies about where the center of the circle is, and engulfs both himself and Hohenheim into the gate. Hohenheim wakes to see everybody in his country dead. He meets Homunculus, who tells him everything, how he has now gained half of the powers of the stone. Homunculus did this out of gratitude. after these events, Hohenheim travels to Xing, and founds the art of Alkahestry.!~

A member of a bandit group who hijacked a train headed towards Central City so that he could trade the safety of the passengers on board - most notably General Haruko - for the freedom of his group&#039;s leader. Originally a member of the military, he desired an Automail arm to increase his power. This use of automail for unnecessary procedure was prohibited by the State, and Bald was discharged and became an outlaw, seeking revenge on the military that disbarred him. His automail arm includes two gun barrels and a small knife blade. While hijacking the train, Bald was confronted by Edward, who disabled his arm and defeated the bandits, an exploit which won him permission to take the State Alchemist entry exam. He would later resurface in &quot;Curse of the Crimson Elixir&quot; inside the sewers of Eastern City, and then &quot;Stray Rondo&quot; to repeat the same crime, only to be put in jail yet again both times by the Elrics.    In the manga, he&#039;s actually part of rebels who against Amestris, possibly from one of the southern bordering country which area had been taken by Amestris during the war.    In the anime, the event actually is part of a flashback to before Edward became a State Alchemist. Defeating Bald allows the Elrics to take the State Alchemist examination after a grateful Hakuro refers them. In the manga, Edward is already a State Alchemist (and fifteen years old) and returning from Lior. After defeating Bald, Mustang refers Edward to Shou Tucker and his research when Edward wonders if it would be possible to alchemically construct himself new limbs.

A strong sailor type, he joined the IPO when he was 12 like Tetsugyu did. He is one of the most powerful members of the organization, with the exception of their Chief. It is he who caused Alberto the Impact to lose an eye and has earned his enmity because of that. He serves as source of strength, wisdom, and a sense of what is right to do for both Tetsugyu and Daisaku. He also provides some important insights into his enemy.

Jinpuu is a master of the art of feng shui. He appears in the later episodes of Rurouni Kenshin.

Askeladd is the commander of a small but powerful Viking band, which owed its success to Askeladd's exceptional intelligence. Ryu-Oh Ryouma is the strongest member of the Hachibushu, a massive warrior and a devoted follower of Vishnu. Ryouma's devotion to Vishnu ultimately trumps his trust for Hyuga, and thinking his best friend has somehow been corrupted, Ryouma sets out to kill Hyuga and Shurato.  Ryouma and Hyuga are best friends, and the two exhibit similar personalities. Ryouma comes to appreciate Shurato's ideals as well, and forms a loyal camaraderie with his fellow Hachibushu. Ryouma is set to fight Gai during the opening of the Heiseimon Gate, and although the group is unsuccessful in releasing Gai from the grip of his dark masters, this event fully convinces Ryouma of Shurato's will and fighting spirit, and he resolves to aid him.  His Shakti and armor are modeled after the dragon, and his weapon is a trident. Due to his immense strength, he is able of wielding his heavy weapon with great skill and agility.

Frank Archer  is a character exclusive to the first anime.  He is cool, calm, and collected, with a love for violence and war. He dreams of becoming a hero on the battlefield, viewing it as a way to rise up the ranks of the military. To this end, he does whatever is necessary to please his superiors, and always ensures that his actions earn him some publicity. As the series progresses, Archer develops an interest in the military's various projects, such as the homunculi, chimeras, and the Philosopher's Stone.   ~!Archer lost the left half of his body when the Philosopher's Stone was created in Liore, and received automail modification in order to regain his mobility. After the operations left him mentally unstable, Archer raged through Central, carrying out King Bradley's ordered executions. Biscuit is a master and experienced teacher of Nen. She continues the Nen training Wing gave to Gon and Killua during the Greed Island arc. As a Treasure Hunter, Biscuit loves collecting rare jewels (and gets very excited about them; she has a habit of naming them) and getting money. Biscuit has a devious personality. She initially uses her cutesy appearance and demeanor to her advantage whether it's for information gathering, getting what she wants, or even in combat by acting innocent and helpless so most people will usually put their guards down around her. However, as a teacher of Nen, she has a stern and serious attitude towards her students.   

~!Though in the beginning she was out to trouble Gon and Killua, at the end of the Greed Island arc she acknowledges (albeit, in her head) that she's close to developing parental feelings toward the two of them.!~
