Zoro was the first crew member to be recruited by [Luffy](https://anilist.co/character/40/Luffy-Monkey). 

Zoro is a skilled swordsman who fights with his own unique sword style known as santoryu (three katana fighting style). This is achieved by using one katana in each hand, and another in his mouth. He is also seen fighting with only one or two swords. When in a serious fight he ties his normally, tied on the arm bandana, on his head. Though not a samurai, he appears to maintain a certain degree of bushido, and is frequently mistaken for one. Unlike Luffy and most of the other Straw Hat pirates, Zoro has been known to kill his opponents if he has to, though never in cold blood. 

Zoro has a stern, serious and distanced personality, however he often reacts in a goofy and exaggerated comic style due to his gruff, impatient attitude. On the ship, he normally either trains with weights or sleeps. The only work he is seen doing regularly is hoisting the anchor using his great strength. He also likes sake, almost to the degree that Luffy likes meat, but like [Nami](https://anilist.co/character/723/Nami), he never gets drunk due to his inhumanly-high endurance and tolerance for alcohol. Another notable trait is his lack of orientation, as Zoro often gets lost, even in small, familiar spaces or when being led by someone. Despite this, he is often the first to sense an enemy or danger, and the first to react. He is often displayed being well aware of dangerous situations and people around him.  

Zoro often reminds others of the harsh facts, which often shocks some of the other crew members, although they usually decide he is right. Zoro has also stated that he is an atheist, and has never believed in anything except himself. He often comes across as arrogant and overconfident, but only because he knows he's a strong man with great fighting ability. Even so, Zoro knows that he still has a lot of untapped potential, and is constantly seen training and trying to improve his fighting skills. He adheres to a strict sword master's code of honor, and never falsely brags or lies about his abilities, sometimes outright admitting a weakness, even to an enemy. He also never tries to escape from a fight or use trickery to win, believing that doing so is cowardly and scorning anyone who uses such tactics. Zoro is very vigorous, strong-willed, and determined.


A missing-nin from Takigakure and Hidan's partner. Kakuzu is a greedy individual, prioritizing things in terms of how much they are worth and finding money to be the only thing that he can depend on. Kakuzu's favorite source of income is collecting bounties while carrying out other missions, even putting up with Hidan's religion since it allows him to collect bounties faster. His history as a bounty hunter seems to be extensive, as he is on friendly terms with a bounty collector and even seems to have memorized the information and worth of some of the more dangerous bounties. This view of money has caused Kakuzu to refer to himself as the "Treasurer of Akatsuki", though it is unknown if this is an actual position. Kakuzu also has his own personal banker and accountant. Despite his attachment to money, he places the orders of the Akatsuki leader before any opportunity to make a profit. Kakuzu greatly dislikes the fact that he needs a teammate as a member of Akatsuki, due in part to his habit of killing anyone near him (partners included) when enraged. Having killed all of his previous partners as a result of this, Kakuzu was partnered with Hidan. Neither Kakuzu nor Hidan are fond of their partnership, Kakuzu having little patience for Hidan's time-consuming battle style and rituals and Hidan, in turn, detesting how Kakuzu fights solely for money. Still, because Hidan is immortal, Kakuzu can attack him without worrying about finding a new partner.

Nendo has a simple way of thinking, but because of it, Saiki is unable to read his mind. Because Saiki is unable to detect Nendo's presence, Nendo is the only person who is able to sneak up on Saiki and making him think he will someday be a dangerous foe.

Nendo believes he is a friend of Saiki, but this is definitely not the case as Saiki despises Nendo. Saiki would often compare Nendo to a bug, as bugs are one of the few animals that Saiki cannot read the minds of.

It was revealed that he is a rich businessman who has made most of the buildings and libraries throughout Sinnoh. However, Ash and the others do not know that he is also the Team Galactic leader. Using his businessman alter-ego, he visits the Celestic Town Historical Research Center while the remaining members of Team Galactic carry out a plan to steal the Lustrous Orb from the Research Center, after having already stolen the Adamant Orb from its Eterna City police escort.    He discovers from Ash and Dawn that they have seen Azelf and Mesprit when the two tell of their encounters with the mysterious Pok&eacute;mon at Lake Verity and Lake Valor, which apparently intrigues him    He appeared again in Saving the World From Ruins!. He was seen in Team Galactic&#039;s headquarters alongside Saturn and Jupiter as well as Charon. They were coordinating Mars&#039;s mission on Iron Island and using a beam launched with the Spear Key to scan energy readings from the Spear Pillar. In The Battle Finale of Legend!, he takes control of Dialga and Palkia, and steps into a portal created by the two legendary Pok&eacute;mon. This Asiatic beggar asked for food to a man, as he hadn't eaten for five days. The man, feeling disgusted that the beggar did no work to get his food, forces him to work by carrying the bags of corn to the storage. The beggar starts by carrying a small bag of corn, but is forced to carry a larger bag instead. While the man rests and drinks coffee, the beggar tries to move the large bag to the storage, but the bag proves to be too large and too heavy for him to carry and as a result he falls and is crushed by the bag. The man falls asleep and dreams that the beggar has appeared underneath his table, threatening to take revenge on him at his happiest moment. Not long after, authorities arrive and find that the beggar carrying the bag has died. He has since then assisted the man's prosperity from behind the scenes so that he could fulfill his vow of taking the man's life at his happiest moment. Years later the spirit of the beggar possesses the man's daughter. The beggar challenges the man to throw a piece of popcorn in the air above the altitude of a nearby lamppost and catch it in his mouth, each time at the clap of his hands, three times in a row. If the man succeeds, the beggar will acknowledge that his death was due to destiny and will leave the man forever, but if the man fails, the beggar will cut off his head without fail. The man fails and, without a second to spare, the beggar cuts off his head.

Jealous only appears in a flashback when Rem explains a method to kill a Shinigami. In this flashback, Rem recalls Jealous watching over a woman  in the human world. Surprised by his concern, Rem eventually looks over his shoulder and witnesses what should have been the woman's last moments on Earth. The first through fourth printings of Volume 4 of the English-language manga refers to him as Gelus.    Ken'ichi Matsuyama, who portrayed L in the live action films, voices Jealous in the anime. Jealous is one of the few left handed characters in the show.

Kumatetsu is a potential successor to the throne of the Beast Kingdom. He has to choose someone to be his apprentice and he ends up choosing a human boy named Ren (and later names him Kyuuta).
