Genta Kojima is a student in Teitan Elementary School when Shinichi joins his class as [Conan Edogawa.](https://anilist.co/character/1742/Conan-Edogawa) Shortly afterwards, he and his classmate [Ayumi](https://anilist.co/character/4228/Ayumi-Yoshida) decide to investigate an apparently haunted mansion, and they persuade Conan to come along. When their friend and classmate [Mitsuhiko](https://anilist.co/character/4252/Mitsuhiko-Tsuburaya) expresses his skepticism about supernatural hauntings, Genta forcefully 'persuades' him to tag along as well. As it turns out, the haunting is a cover-up for an old homicide case. 

Soon after, the accidental acquisition of a treasure map leads Ayumi, Genta, Mistuhiko and Conan on a hunt for a cache of stolen Italian gold coins, during which Conan saves them from getting killed by the mafia members who are also after the gold. After the case is resolved, Mitsuhiko joins Genta and Ayumi in forming the nucleus of an amateur detective group, the Detective Boys. Genta is quick to pronounce himself the leader of the group, but his lackadaisical leadership abilities are commonly neglected in the field, and in fact everyone _(even Genta)_ unconsciously views Conan as the group's actual leader. Genta's school shoe locker is used as a mailbox for any of their fellow students to present them with a case to solve. 

Genta is the self-proclaimed leader of the Detective Boys. He loves food, especially braised eel on rice, and can eat more than all the other Detective Boys members combined. When discussions of money come up, Genta tends to think about it in terms of how many eel bowls he could buy. He also tends to mess up certain Japanese terms with similar-sounding words _(especially if the latter are related to food)_ and sometimes has trouble reading even the most common Kanji, which on occasion causes some ridicule from his classmates and friends. His brash personality, lack of awareness of his surroundings, and tendency to not think before acting often lands the Detective Boys _(or at least himself)_ in sticky situations. 

Even though he is brash, outspoken and can be intimidating, Genta is actually very kind and dependable. He is a good friend of Ayumi and Mitsuhiko, and has been shown to greatly admire his father, who is considered to be a classic "Child of Edo". He is apparently an only child living with his parents, who run a liquor store called "Kojima Liquors". He also has an uncle who lives in Gifu.

Chiba is a detective in the Tokyo district, and very often works alongside [Inspector Megure](https://anilist.co/character/4253/Juzo-Megure) and [Wataru Takagi.](https://anilist.co/character/9421/Wataru-Takagi) His main duty appears to be to obtain information outside of the crime scenes. Sometimes, he will even go out and substitute as inspector when Megure is busy on another case. He is a childhood friend and the love interest of [Naeko Miike.](https://anilist.co/character/55947/Naeko-Miike)

Chiba can be serious, but he is shown to be a mostly light-hearted officer. He loves to eat and is sometimes shown stuffing his face, usually with burgers and sodas, but usually this is merely done for comic effect. Chiba can be very supportive, and is a big help, especially for using his size to catch criminals. He, as well as [Yumi Miyamoto,](https://anilist.co/character/28418/Yumi-Miyamoto) is very supportive for Takagi's relationship and feelings for [Sato,](https://anilist.co/character/13975/Miwako-Satou) and is one of the few officers in the Tokyo district to not get involved in [Shiratori's](https://anilist.co/character/9180/Ninzaburo-Shiratori) schemes to get the couple to break up.

Kenichi Okamura is Yousen High's power forward.

Nakamori is an inspector for the Tokyo district. His division is nominally devoted to fraud cases, but he spends most of his time and energy capturing the gentleman thief Kaitou Kid.

Nakamori has been dealing with Kaitou Kid ever since he first joined the police force, not knowing that he has been dealing with the original Kaitou Kid, [Toichi Kuroba,](https://anilist.co/character/30378/Toichi-Kuroba) and the new Kaitou Kid, Toichi's son [Kaito,](https://anilist.co/character/1747/Kaito-Kuroba) who is best friend and the romantic interest of his daughter [Aoko.](https://anilist.co/character/13972/Aoko-Nakamori) Nakamori used to be a homicide police inspector, but gave that up to focus his time more on Kid. 

Nakamori has a fiery and boisterous personality, always yelling to direct his officers and losing his cool when one of his plans goes awry. Nakamori is extremely self confident. He is usually very self-assured his plans will work and cackles madly to himself at the thought of Kaitou Kid being caught in them. His many failures don't stop him from proudly declaring on live news broadcasts he will surely nab the Kid next time. Nakamori's experience in chasing Kid is balanced by his impulsivity which is his downfall. After a surprise, Nakamori is typically drawn into chasing a Kaitou Kid dummy or shutting off the defensive measures instead of wisely making sure that Kaitou Kid isn't still on the scene or only pretending to have bypassed security (which is often really the case). 

Though a dedicated and capable police officer, Nakamori is always outsmarted by Kid, and even when he captures Kid, Kid somehow finds a way to escape. Nakamori doesn't like asking for help, but heavily appreciates the work of [Conan Edogawa,](https://anilist.co/character/1742/Conan-Edogawa) who often lends him a hand in trying to outsmart and capture Kid. All of the Kid's cases that involved Conan, end with the Kid giving back the treasure that he robs. 

Despite his intense dislike for Kid, Nakamori respects his rival's personality and sense of honor, willingly acknowledging that murder or similar capital crimes are completely out of the question for Kid. He becomes depressed and worried when Kid doesn't send out notices in a while because it means he has nothing to do; the return of Kaitou Kid pleased him greatly.
