A 3rd-year student and regular member of the Seigaku tennis team. He is an intelligent player and is best known for collecting player data, which he incorporates into a unique playing style known as "Data Tennis". Before Echizen Ryoma's arrival at Seigaku, Inui was recognized as the third-strongest player on the team, next to Fuji Shūsuke and Tezuka Kunimitsu. Inui has an intense rivalry with Tezuka, having played at least 30 matches against him and losing every single one of them. In response to Tezuka's superiority, Inui began developing his style of Data Tennis specifically to defeat Tezuka.

Four years prior to the start of the series, Inui and Yanagi Renji were unstoppable Elementary School Doubles Pairing. Despite Inui wanting to continue their close partnership, their doubles pairing was ended when Yanagi suddenly moved to the Kanagawa Prefecture and joined [[|Rikkai Dagaku Fuzoku |Rikkaidai]].

Inui usually plays doubles, most notably with Kaidou Kaoru. His doubling with Kaidou helped Seigaku overcome their problems with their lack of strong doubles teams, with the exception of the Golden Pair.

Thorfinn is a courageous young man armed with two twin blades he inherited from his deceased [father](https://anilist.co/character/13021). He's traveling with [Askeladd](https://anilist.co/character/13020), who is the leader of a ruthless group of mercenaries who take jobs from whoever they think can offer them a reasonable reward. Besides, Askeladd is the man who killed Thorfinn's father, Thors, and the only reason Thorfinn is traveling with Askeladd is so he can defeat him in a duel and win back his father's pride. Thorfinn only wants to win his father's pride with a fair duel. Askeladd only agrees to these duels when Thorfinn completes a certain task (like bringing him the head of the opposing armies general on the battlefield).  He does not fight for the love of battle, but is still prone to losing his composure when in combat. This hotheadedness often costs him battles against more experienced opponents.

He is a third-year mechanic in the Earth Dormitory. He is taciturn and calm. One of the most important members of the dormitory, he is a pillar of support for the other dormitory members.
