Gin was born in the winter in a small village in the Ōu Mountains. He was born tiger-striped (Brindle) and therefore his destiny was predetermined. He was to become a bear dog. While Gin still was a small puppy, he sees his father [Riki](https://anilist.co/character/9079/Riki) getting thrown into a gorge and disappearing by the paw of the bear [Akakabuto](https://anilist.co/character/9078/Akakabuto). Gin now starts his training as a bear dog at the old man [Takeda Gohei’s](https://anilist.co/character/9082/Takeda-Gohei) house. One day in the mountains, Gin meets a strange group of wild dogs who have organized themselves to kill the bear Akakabuto. He now starts a voyage to seek out strong dogs who will be willing to help them fight against Akakabuto. During the journey, Gin becomes an adolescent and the leader of the large platoon. His sense of justice and generosity encourage many dogs to swear loyalty to him.

Candy is an orphan grown up in the orphanage &quot;Pony&#039;s Home&quot;. She has got golden blond hair, green eyes and freckles in her funny face. Candy is very kind-hearted, helpful, optimistic, cheerful and vivid and doesn&#039;t have any inferiority complex because of being an orphan at all. So many people like her or love her very much. While being a teenager, she is adopted by the clan Adley, the biggest, very rich, influential and highly respected clan in the United States of America. He was the grandma's favourite and would always get in trouble in place of Stear and Archie.  His mother passed away when he was at a very young age and his father is a sailor. His hobby is to take care of the roses in his garden because his mom loved roses before she died. Daisuke is the most prominent human character in the Ginga series.

Daisuke is [Fuji's](https://anilist.co/character/9080/Fuji) owner and [Gin's](https://anilist.co/character/3187/Gin) friend. Daisuke trains Gin for the old man [Takeda Gohei](https://anilist.co/character/9082/Takeda-Gohei) when the old man gets too weak to do it. Daisuke learns to use a hunting bow and kills a bear together with Gin. Even though Gin runs away with the wild dogs, Daisuke keeps the faith that Gin will one day return to kill [Akakabuto](https://anilist.co/character/9078/Akakabuto).

A kind and gentle old woman of whom Kiki first meets when she phones for her to deliver a herring pie to her granddaughter's birthday party. Due to her electric oven breaking, she is unable to make the pie an offers to pay Kiki for her time. Instead, Kiki helps her make it using a wood-fire oven and does some odd chores around the house before delivering the pie in the rain. However, Madame's granddaughter expresses no gratitude for the pie, which upsets Kiki.

Moominmamma is married to [Moominpappa](https://anilist.co/character/16937/Moominpappa) and is the mother of Moomintroll. She very rarely gets cross and takes even the most distressing circumstances (such as the arrival of a comet, or being washed away by a flood) in her stride. Moominmamma would permit anything to her child and his friends, even smoking (she says it's good for the stomach).

Moominmamma is almost never without her handbag, which contains essentials like woolly socks, tummy powder, and bark. She makes bark boats every summer, and the first one goes to her favorite.

A friend of the family, craftsman and practical philosopher. Has her first appearance in the novel Moominland Midwinter and returns in the short stories of Tales From Moominvalley and in comics. The character and the name are modelled after Tuulikki Pietil&auml;, Tove Jansson&#039;s life partner.

Known as The Fillyjonk in some English translations, the first we hear of is the late theatre director in Moominsummer Madness (the Rat is his widow) and the young Fillyjonk who joins the Snork Maiden in the late night jaunt to the wishing well. Later we meet the wonderful psychological study of the Fillyjonk Who Believed In Disasters in Tales from Moominvalley. Not a single moment of fantasy or joy, only duties and discipline; she is an extremely methodical person tied down with principles and has a deep rooted belief in prestige and tradition. Nevertheless, after a catastrophe, The Fillyjonk can be freed from the trammels of social expectation and can discover the joys of freedom, irrationality and self-expression. Deep inside she has had a wish to live freely as the Moomin family does, without any worries. The Witch looks quite scary and has some powerful magic in her possession, but is a harmless old lady despite her strong dislike of the Moomins.  She would prefer Alice not to play with them and pay more attention to her studies, but does warm up for them later on. (This character does not appear in the original stories or comics.)

Toki is one of the old women in the local Senior center in Sousuke's city.
