L Lawliet is a world-renowned detective who takes on the challenge of catching Kira. In his investigation, L becomes suspicious of [Light Yagami](https://anilist.co/character/80/Light-Yagami) and makes it his goal to prove that Light is Kira. L is very secretive and only communicates with the world through his assistant, [Watari](https://anilist.co/character/2179/Quillsh-Wammy). He never shows his face to the world in person, instead, representing himself with a capital letter L.

L is highly intelligent, though his disheveled and languid appearance masks his great powers of deduction, and many question his abilities upon viewing him. L tends to second-guess everything he is presented with and is extremely meticulous and analytical. He is good at deceiving his opponents and is willing to take drastic measures to solve a case. He is also shown to have a dry sense of humor, and he isn't above making sarcastic remarks to people. Although he tends to be polite to some, L can seem condescending at times.

L has several quirks, such as preferring to crouch rather than sit, eating only sweet foods, and holding items by using only a thumb and a finger. He is often seen arranging objects and very intently stacking, or in other ways playing with, his staple food items. L is almost always encountered while performing actions that are considered inappropriate or rude in public. These actions/habits include biting fingernails, placing feet on furniture, slouching, chewing with an open mouth, talking with his mouth full, and calling out personal observations that may offend others.

The second unit captain of the Shinsengumi. He introduces himself to Tetsu as &quot;Sanosuke&rsquo;s keeper.&quot; Like Tetsu, he is often underestimated by his height (and young appearance &mdash; he looks like a child, but is actually in his 20s). In fact, he is extremely skilled with his sword and is a swordsman of Okita Soji&#039;s level. He is also quite the joker, especially in conjunction with Sanosuke and Heisuke.

Subaru is the younger of a pair of fraternal twins, his older twin being a girl named Hokuto. Their parents (who are never seen) were members of the Sumeragi, a clan of onmyouji who have served Japan and its emperors for hundreds of years. Subaru was trained from an early age to become the 13th head of the Sumeragi clan, replacing his grandmother. At the age of nine, he was separated from his sister Hokuto for a year of intensive training in Tokyo. On the day he ascended to the head of the clan, Subaru encountered a strange young man under a cherry tree. The meeting would subsequently be expunged from his memory. Subaru's grandmother ordered him to wear gloves from that day onwards, and never to allow anyone else to see his hands. The old onmyouji cast a spell that would repel any attempts by others to remove them. Subaru never removed his gloves, and was known to wear them even when sleeping.

Training with [Genma](https://anilist.co/character/9913) at Jusenkyou in China, Ranma was thrown into a spring called Nyanniichuan. He emerged as a young girl, according with the spring's curse. When splashed with hot water, he changes back to a boy, but when splashed with cold to room temperature water, he turns into a girl again. As for our well-built 16-year-old hero/heroine, the martial arts is his life. He also possesses a rather large and easily wounded ego, believing his physical strength to be his only virtue. Whenever his pride is damaged, Ranma feels the need to rectify the situation, even when it's not necessarily in his best interest to do so.

Usopp is a liar and likes to play pranks on his crew members or just goof off with [Luffy](https://anilist.co/character/40/Luffy-Monkey) and [Chopper](https://anilist.co/character/309). He loves to tell tall tales to Chopper (who believes him blindly) or anyone who's listening. The other aspect of Usopp besides his lying is his cowardice; he is a very timid person, or so he thinks. In extremely stressful situations, Usopp has proven to be far more courageous than he believes himself to be. He shows great resolve when his friends are threatened or mocked by outsiders. Even though he is a complete coward in battle, he is a useful part to the Straw Hat Pirates. He is extremely handy and can fix almost anything. He sometimes sees a role model in [Zoro](https://anilist.co/character/62/Zoro-Roronoa) who never seems afraid but always proud. Usopp lacks a bit of self esteem and is often taken advantage of by [Nami](https://anilist.co/character/723) to make her weapons or repair and improve them - something he is very adept at, having constructed the ingenious weapon "Clima Tact." 

Usopp will also stand up and fight for not only the well-being of people, but also for their ideals - and the ideals of a pirate, which he holds very high. In battle he normally tries to trick his enemy by telling tales or mischievous lies to deceive them. Despite his lack of physical strength compared to other members of the crew, Usopp seems to be just as resilient as his comrades and this ability to bear loads and loads of damage, is one of his best traits, in addition to his cunning and intelligence, which has saved the Straw Hats on many occasions. Usopp also has outstanding marksmanship abilities with his slingshot and is on his way to becoming one of the best snipers in the One Piece world, although his goal in life is to become a proud and strong pirate like his father [Yasopp](https://anilist.co/character/9562/Yasopp) of the Red Haired Pirate Crew.

Monta is the wide receiver of the Deimon Devil Bats American football team. He resembles an ape, particularly a chimpanzee, in many ways; indeed, his simian similarity is the character's running joke throughout the manga. Although he is as short as Sena, his large hands, arms (that are noticeably longer than his legs), acrobatic moves, and leaping ability make him a very effective receiver; he can even catch Hiruma's bullet passes with one hand. He has a habit of posing every time he makes a spectacular catch for a touchdown, rolling after the jump, and breaking out of the roll by kneeling and pointing upwards with his index finger. He also has the habit of attaching 'Max' to nearly everything he does (suffixing his phrases with MAX! in the Japanese, and prefixing them with MAXI-! in the English), since he believes that one should give 100% effort in all endeavors.   He was named Monta after Sena mistook his name as Rai Montarou. He begins to like being called 'Monta' after Hiruma tells him the nickname 'Monta' was supposedly derived from Joe Montana. Monta does not know that Joe Montana is a quarterback, not a wide receiver. Monta has a crush on Mamori. He's always trying to win her heart, often failing miserably, because she always gives more attention to Sena. Monta's throwing is incredibly horrible: he moves his arm in the right direction, but somehow, the ball goes in a completely different direction! Not only that, but his kicking is similar. His throws/kicks usually hit someone on the head, or break a window. Monta is also known for his bad grammar, as he once said that he will "restore his disgrace, but was corrected by Hiruma, and Hiruma even requested that someone "teach that monkey how to communicate with humans ", which embarrassed him even further.   At the same time, although he is considered an idiot, he gives wonderful motivational speeches, especially to Sena. Every time Sena felt like all was lost, Monta would give him a pep talk, leading Sena to start moving again.

Mikako&#039;s friend from early childhood who lives next door, also goes to Yazagaku. He has been in love with Mikako for a long time. He searches for his passion and a hobby, eventually becoming an apprentice to Mikako&rsquo;s father and learning to be a photographer. He bears an eerie similarity to Ken Nakagawa, a character from &quot;Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai&rdquo;, who is also the lead singer of the popular band Manbou - often leading to several accounts of rabid fangirls and mistaken identity. He is frequently referred to as a monkey (usually by Mikako). He forms Akindo, a street market shop/club, with Ayumi and the others. He also appears in &quot;Paradise kiss&quot; as Yukari Hayasaka&#039;s photographer.

The male protagonist, a hybrid of a youkai-dog and a human, a half-demon ("han'yo" in Japanese). He wields the Tessaiga (pronounced "Tetsaiga" in the American dub), a supernatural sword made from one of his deceased father's fangs. This sword, when properly wielded, can destroy one hundred demons with a single swing, and has further powers which are revealed as the story progresses. It is also a source of which hatred exists between Inuyasha and his brother Sesshomaru, a full youkai dog demon, being that Inuyasha can wield the Tessaiga and Sesshomaru can not. Inuyasha has a tendency for massive regeneration and can recover from injuries which would be fatal for any average human. On the night of the new moon each month, Inuyasha will change into a normal human with black hair, brown eyes, and loses his yokai power during this time. Prior to meeting his current companions, he would conceal himself during this time. Inuyasha loves [Kikyo](https://anilist.co/character/1359), and still does, but things get complicated when he starts to develop feelings of love for Kagome. He has mastered different abilities for his sword including the red tessaiga that can destroy barriers and also learning the backlash wave which hurls an opponents demonic energy right back at it.

The Gundam Fighter choosen by Neo China, Sai Saici was part of a famous family of Martial Artists that once won the Gundam Fight several years ago. Now he wishes to bring back his temple&#039;s name, and win the 13th Gundam Fight. He&#039;s kinda childish but loves to cook.       After the Shuffle Alliance was defeated by the Devil (Dark) Gundam, he was given the title of Ace Of Clubs. Now he teams up with Domon in order to defeat the Devil (Dark) Gundam.

Aweaking nude, with no memory of his past, and accompanied only by Pandy who is in the same situation, he soon starts unleashing chaos onto the city with his &#039;new&#039; friend.    Having huge knowledge about fighting styles and weapons, he is also incredibly nimble and skilled. His mechanical head also gives him the ability to change his body and to control any robot or electronic device. In the OVA, it is said that he was a secret agent before losing his memory.

As a taika from Japan, the kirin of En (or Enki) is also known as Rokuta. He was found by his nyokai after his parents abandoned him at a young age. He originally felt that humans could not rule a kingdom properly and was reluctant to choose a new king, but he felt that Shoryu truly deserved to become king of En. At the beginning of the series, Shinichi is a 17-year old student at Teitan High School. He is already well-known as a brilliant young detective, the "Savior of the police force", for solving many difficult cases that the professionals could not. However, while investigating 2 mysterious men, he is spotted and forced to swallow an experimental poison known as APTX 4869. This results in his body shrinking to that of a 6 year old.

Shinichi comes up with the alias Conan Edogawa after Arthur Conan Doyle and Edogawa Rampo and pretends to be a distant relative of Agasa's who places Conan in Ran's care. Ran's father Kogoro Mouri, owns a Detective Agency which Conan uses to his advantage to discover cases involving the Black Organization.

As Conan, Shinichi helps Ran's father solve cases by putting him to sleep and simulating Kogoro's voice using the special bowtie gadget Professor Agasa made for him. By solving cases one after the other, he helps build up Kogoro's reputation who will later on be referred to as "Sleeping Kogoro". He also spends a good amount of time with his Detective Boys fellows and solves many small cases with them and sometimes in the company of Professor Agasa.

The Phantom Thief Kid or The Magician Under the Moonlight (Kaito Kid) is a world-renowned thief who steals treasures and gems. He is sometimes known as Kaito Kid or 'International Criminal 1412'.

Despite the fact that [Shinichi](https://anilist.co/character/1742/Edogawa-Conan) (Conan) does not care much about investigating thefts, Kid can be considered his archnemesis, as he is the one criminal (besides some members of the Black O) he can not seem to catch.

Curiously, Kaito discovers Conan's true identity (non-canon, movies only), but keeps his secret, and sometimes Conan can even count on Kid's help to solve some of his cases. However, not even Kudo Shinichi knows about Kid's true identity.

Throughout the story, Kaito Kid and Conan have crossed paths but he has always managed to escape from Conan's clutches by his special skills.

Ryuuichi was the vocalist for the legendary band Nittle Grasper, along with Noriko Ukai and Tohma Seguchi. However, they disbanded three years ago and Ryuichi went to America to persue a solo career. There he met Mr K (Crawd Winchester) who became his manager. Later on, he returned to Japan where Nittle Grasper regrouped and caused rivalry for Shuichi&#039;s band, Bad Luck. He&#039;s bad at Japanese but good at english. He&#039;s nice to everyone. Even when Bad Luck and Nittle Grasper were up as rivals, he still treated Shuichi as a friend and helped him out a lot. He could be seen as a little naive but that&#039;s why he&#039;s so sweet.

Jin is one of the members of the Shadow Channelers team during the Dark Tournament. The team&#039;s true name, however, was the Shinobi of the Spirit World. He is assumed friends with Touya, another member, since one is almost never seen independent of the other, except when fighting, and they stick together after the Dark Tournament. Jin has a cheerful and up-beat personality. Jin speaks with a strong Irish accent (in the English dub) and has a serious disdain for his team-mate, the brutish Bakken. He tells Yusuke that a fighter shouldn&#039;t bring outside hostilities and anger into a match, and that they should enjoy themselves - especially when they are battling for their lives. Despite his sunny disposition - or perhaps because of it - Jin is an incredibly talented fighter who throws himself whole-heartedly into a match. Jin&#039;s special ability is wind manipulation, being able to float in the air, create miniature cyclones around his fists, or create full-blown tornadoes.    Jin first appeared, along with the other members of the Shadow Channlers, in the Dark Tournament against Team Urameshi. Jin, just as he wanted, ended up fighting Yusuke Urameshi. After a long battle where each of them sent one powerful attack after another to their opponent, Jin finally got knocked out of the arena and lost. Unfortunately for Yusuke, due to a trick made by the team&#039;s owner, the battle was counted as a tie. Following the Dark Tournament, Jin later appears in the Makai Tournament. He was recruited by Kurama to work for one of the three Demon Lords, Yomi in the Demon Plane, or Makai. Jin trains under Genkai before entering the Makai Tournament, and goes from an upper C Class to an upper A Class. During the tournament itself, Jin ends up fighting Souketsu, who was a former friend and rival of Yusuke&#039;s ancestral father, the thunder god Raizen. A flashback is shown where Soketsu is defeated by the deceased king (Raizen).

Ryuu-ou is the Bushinshou of the West, also the King of the Ryuu clan.

Ryuu-ou went after Ashura after he ran off to find his mother, however in the end Ryuu-ou is killed by the "real Ashura", Ashura’s other side who is the god of destruction who wants to destroy everything. A mysterious member of the Phantom Troupe, Feitan is attired in what one would expect from a bandit - dark clothes with a skullhead scarf that covers his mouth. Feitan seldom speaks, but when he does, there's usually a word missing. Feitan's first language most likely isn't Japanese, but he has shown to be rather proficient in the Chinese language. He is one of the original members hailing from Meteor City.

A young man always seen smiling with a pair of scissors. The son of a clockmaker, as a child he was sold  by his stepfather to a young Luck Gandor as a means of payment for an $2500 loan his stepfather couldn&#039;t pay off. Helps out in the Gandor family by &#039;taking care&#039; of their enemies.     Tick has an obsession with scissors and uses them as torturing devices for the Gandor brothers&#039; mafia buisness.    He also has a younger brother named Tock, whom his father kept and escaped from the city with.

A male friend of Takeya's&mdash;though apart from being in the same class, the two have little in common. The #1 member of the &quot;DearS Love Club&quot;, Oihiko is extremely interested in DearS, particularly female ones; he harbors an especially deep infatuation with Ren. Though goofy and more than a little shallow, at heart he remains a decent young man.

The 12-year old boy who happens to own the wristwatch that controls the world's most powerful robot! However, this is hardly fun and games. Robo's power is a huge responsibility. Daisaku feels that he should use Robo to help the world, as his father wanted him to, and it pains him to see Robo not work. Daisaku also sometimes feels that he is just a helpless kid and nothing without the robot, and it makes him frustrated. He is also a little nieve, being young. He admired the clean energy of the Shizuma drive until he learned of its dark past.

Iwaki is a normal 15 year old boy in his third grade of junior high-school with a thing for older women. The reason is when he is a child, he tried to save Rizel when she was about to be hit by a truck and when he wakes up Rizel is hugging him. He has a long standing crush on his homeroom teacher, Natsumi Ibata. He was forcibly married to Rizel by the government. When Rizel starts appearing at school and claiming to be his wife, his friends are jealous of such a girl being ensnared by Iwaki already and start calling him a pervert.
