Watanuki (a name meaning "April 1" in kanji) is known for having both a volatile and caring personality. Depending upon the person he talks to, his emotions tend to be overly exaggerated. He lives alone because his parents died when he was young, but harder than these conditions is the fact that his everyday life is plagued with strange spirits that only he can see, and they are drawn to him. Apparently this was inherited- it is noted that his blood smells good to spirits.

One average day, while Watanuki is being chased by a legion of spirits, he comes across a strange house which the spirits are repelled by. He feels compelled to enter, and there meets Yuuko, who claims that it is a store which grants wishes in exchange for a price. Watanuki asks for the spirits to stop chasing him, and Yuuko agrees to granting it but only if Watanuki works as a helper in the shop until he accumulates enough time for her to make his wish come true. This is the beginning of Watanuki's part time job. As time goes by, Watanuki meets many different people who help him to develop and change his opinions on the world, and also to understand the world from Yuuko's perspective, which also helps him to mature. 

~!When half way through both the anime and manga he loses the sight in his right eye due to a spider's grudge curse, his left iris turns a dull milky grey color. After failing to retrieve his sight in this eye , he receives half of Doumeki's right eye's sight, which causes his right eye to turn a dark green with a brownish tint (in the Anime), or gold-brown (in the Manga).!~

Haruto Sakaki is a Hunter working with the STN-J. He is brash, slightly hot-tempered, ambitious, and supportive. He often rushes into danger during hunts, and this often produces regrettable results. He is the newest member of the group after Robin, and is initially afraid of being replaced when she arrives. Sakaki is not biased about choosing friends however, and welcomes Robin to the crew. As with Amon, Sakaki does not show any superhuman ability. However, he is later hunted by Zaizen, suggesting that Sakaki is an unawakened "seed." He is saved via direct intervention of Robin, Amon, Doujima and Nagira. When that attack on Sakaki fails, they realized that Karasuma is left alone, presumed to be attacked and captured at the same time.        He later helps Robin infiltrate the Factory to save Karasuma, and provides covering fire while Michael attempts to get an elevator back online. He is confirmed alive after Factory's collapse, Michael mentions that he still hunts witches at the end of the series.

Lelouch is a student of Ashford Academy high school, where he is a member of its student council. Son of Fernand and Mercédès de Morcerf. A naïve fifteen-year-old, Albert encounters the Count while vacationing on the moon colony, Luna. He is the primary protagonist of the story who transfers to an all-boys school and becomes one of the Princesses. He seems enthusiastic about it since all the Princesses get a lot of free stuff and added luxuries. His parents died in an accident, which is when his uncle and aunt adopted him. He seems to be very reluctant about spending time with his family, which mainly has to do with his younger step-sister Sayaka, who has an unhealthy obsession with him. He mainly uses his job as a Princess as a distraction from the problems he has with his family and in effect usually gets very in to acting like a Princess, much like Yuujiro. He often teams up with Yuujiro to tease Mikoto, much to Mikoto's chagrin. Yuujiro often jokingly says he and Toru are lovers.    ~!In fact when Toru's stepsister, Sayaka, comes looking for Toru, Yuujiro kisses him to scare her away, and they have since been seen blushing in each others presence. !~

An 800 year old Old Blood born in Poland on April 1 called Red-eye Zelman, and is the bearer of the god's flame and a legend of the Dark Ages. Zelman has many other titles including the ancient dark hunter, the follower of the Fire God, the red-eyed murderer, and the prince with blood-colored eyes. He is also one of the rulers of the Special Zone. He comes from a glorious bloodline linking to the great warrior Asura and is noted to be one of the last of that bloodline. Having inherited the special blood of War God Asura, Zelman has a power called Eye Ignite, which enables him to create and control fire.     

Zelman Clock has a slightly wild sense of charisma, but his real self is someone with no morality and is a complete sociopath. Even so, despite his hatred and strong emotions, he is someone who values, above all, freedom and lives only according to his existence as a vampire. He taught Kotaro that a vampire&#039;s fate centers around blood and blood only. Also, before his confrontation with Jiro, despite his sense of anticipation of the confrontation, Zelman is able to hide it and keep it under control. He is the only one of the vampire leaders who willingly accepted Jiro and his brother to the Special Zone as he enjoys their personalities.     

He is a leader of the non-officially-sanctioned group called The Coven. Because he had to prove his bloodline, and had to go through a fight, he was the only one that was left; which is also due to his lifespan of 800 years.

Another classmate of Ritsuka's. He is shown as being socially awkward and with low self esteem, and feels great jealousy towards Ritsuka. Yayoi admits that he loves Yuiko, but when he confessed to her he was rejected. Yuiko claims her reason was that she only dates boys taller than her, but the truthfulness of that statement is called into question when it is painfully obvious she loves Ritsuka, who is just as short as Yayoi.  Despite his jealousy of Ritsuka's close friendship with Yuiko, he is encouraged by Ritsuka's adamant claims that their relationship is purely platonic. He makes a firm statement he will not give up on Yuiko, and spends more time with her than ever.  It is notable that in the manga, Yayoi has a rather small role. He is absent for large parts of the story, and has only a small amount of dialogue. In the anime, they utilized his character much more to enhance the would-be love triangle of Yayoi + Yuiko + Ritsuka, and to inject comic relief into a dark story.

Keiichi is a first year and is the youngest male competitor. He plays the cello. He is very drowsy all the time and often seems confused or in a daze. Keiichi can be found sleeping anywhere, anytime. Kahoko first met him lying on the ground, fast asleep. His life seems to revolve around music - he tells Kahoko that he sleeps, wakes up, plays the cello, then repeats the process, other than eating and visiting the library - and he loves to play the cello. He enjoys reading as well as studying the history of music and structures of instruments. In time, he becomes interested in Kahoko because of her carefree music.

Keita is the male lead of the show. He was considered a failure by his family due to his attitude towards their ancient duty to vanquish evil, treating it like a parttime job, and his initial inability to find an Inukami to bond with. Even though Y&ocirc;ko becomes his inukami and is fully interested in him, he has a bad habit of flirting with other girls; it is later revealed that Keita is mortified by the thought that, if he should develop a relationship with Y&ocirc;ko, he might become the father of a litter of puppies, rather than of a human baby. He is frequently punished for his transgressions by Y&ocirc;ko, to whom he had to promise that he would be loyal to her, that he would be hers and that he would be her toy, to do with whatever she wanted, before she would contract with him. He wears a dog&#039;s collar as a symbol of this pact - an item he originally intended as his &#039;vow gift&#039; to Y&ocirc;ko. Y&ocirc;ko has frequently landed him in jail by teleporting him into a public place without his clothes, causing him to be mistaken for a streaker and arrested for indecent exposure. Due to this, he has been named Ra-ou (Naked King) by the city&#039;s perverts (male and female alike).     Keita possesses considerable athletic skills, can make frog-shaped talismans up to around the size of his fist from rubber which he can use to make ranged attacks and is a practitioner of xingyiquan. However, a shinigami named &#039;Sea of Violence&#039; commented his martial arts skill lack style. Despite his many flaws, Keita has considerable redeeming qualities; he is determined, usually fearless and loyal to his friends and to people under his protection.

Tweedledum, who is both the brother and partner of Tweedledee, is fiercely loyal to his sister. However, he isn&#039;t really sociable with anyone else other than Tweedledee. Although he doesn&#039;t mean to offend, Tweedledum doesn&#039;t really show interest in anyone else other than his sister. Tweedledum has the ability to control the magnetic fields around him, combining with Tweedledee to create a powerful gravitational force. Because of their extremely strong bond, Tweedledum seems jealous when his sister shows interest in Lumiere.    Tweedledum&#039;s name comes from the character in Lewis Carroll&#039;s Alice in Wonderland. Masami Saotome is one of the antagonists of Boogiepop Wa Warawanai. He is a student at Shinyo Academy who would later become the Manticore's primary accomplice.

A 16-year-old boy who attends a private academy with his sister. After becoming involved in Tokiko Tsumura's fight and subsequently being killed and revived by a Kakugane (which later turns out to be a dark Kakugane), he is told to simply return to his ordinary life, but instead insists upon assisting Tokiko in her battles. Kazuki is very enthusiastic and friendly, and cares deeply for his friends and sister, Mahiro, tending to put himself in danger or difficulty in order to assist or protect others. Although he has an unusual way of showing it, he does have feelings for Tokiko Tsumura.     ~!The Kakugane Tokiko used to revive Kazuki turned out to be Black Kakugane III, which transformed him into a being just like Victor. He is then pursued by the 'Muto-assassination team', as well as his former commander, Captain Bravo. During his assassination, he was dubbed 'Victor III' by the Alchemy Warriors. In the end, he sacrifices himself when he sends himself and Victor to the moon with Sunlight Heart +. In Buso Renkin Period, however, he returns to Earth successfully with help from Victor's Buso Renkin, Fatal Attraction. As soon as he returned to Earth, he and Papillon settled their scores, with Kazuki claiming victory. After this, he returns to a normal life with Tokiko.!~

The main character of the show, Riku was originally borne in the Heian Era of Japan as Youmei. His mother sent him into the future, where he was taken up by Soutaru Tachibana, to avoid dying in the Chi-Ryuu raid on the Ten-Ryuu shirne. At the start of the series, he's shy, and easily scared. But when he receives the Ten-Ryuu Toujin drive containing Kogenta, Kogenta helps him to become a lot braver and stronger. He has no memory of his time in the Heian era until he goes to Naraku to reunite with Kogenta after losing him by Yuuma and Rangetsu. In Naraku, he sees his memory play in front of him, and learns of his past life. He is the head of the Ten-Ryuu.

Nicknamed &quot;Idol&quot; by the Day Class girls. Along with his cousin Akatsuki Kain, Hanabusa Aido is known among the Night Class as &quot;Kaname-sama&#039;s right hand,&quot; and he has a fierce admiration for Kaname. He possesses an upper-class vampire ability to control ice. He knows that Zero is a vampire, but keeps quiet about it. Aido can seem cheerful and friendly one moment, and cold and vindictive the next. He is not fond of Yuuki, but he tolerates her because Kaname cares for her. He is the only one to have witnessed Kaname kill Shizuka, but Aidou still looks up to Kaname and wants to lend Kaname his power to help find who killed Kaname&#039;s parents. Yumichika is the narcissist friend of [Ikkaku Madarame](https://anilist.co/character/1151/Ikkaku-Madarame). During their past the two went throughout the Rukongai together looking for fights, and one day Ikkaku lost to Kenpachi Zaraki. After a speech given to them by him about living to kill the one who failed to kill them, and later after hearing news of Kenpachi becoming a captain, the two joined the 11th Division to serve under him. Yumichika wanted to become the 3rd Seat, since he thought three was the most beautiful kanji, though Ikkaku took it, so Yumichika took 5th Seat, thinking that 5 looks almost like a 3. It is not entirely clear if Ikkaku maintains the seat due to if he is superior to Yumichika, or if Yumichika allows him to have because of their friendship. 

Yumichika judges everyone and everything by beauty, and is also incredibly vain. However, he is at times shown to be caring and helpful to others.  


Takaaki is the main male character.  Takaaki is childhood friends with Konomi and sees her as a younger sister. In the anime, it is noted that he has an aversion to most girls save for Konomi and Tamaki, mainly because of their childhood friendship. He is a kind young man who, despite his shy nature around girls, is often very kind to them when the situation arises.

Short, blond haired, and is one of Zeus' most trusted official, he is unhappy about the Six Saint Beast living in the Zeus' villa since he is afraid that they might steal Zeus' attention and affection away from him, thus his position is in peril. Kotaro is a 12 year old middle school classmate of Misaki, whom he has a crush on, as well as Hatoko&#039;s brother. He is always being assaulted by Tamayo and her various martial arts techniques, which he has been a victim of since he was four years old. He becomes jealous of Ohjiro&#039;s advances towards Misaki, going so far as to try to attempt to play a quasi-match of Angelic Layer against Ohjiro, despite the fact that he had never played it before. His family owns a karate dojo and Kotaro has practiced karate some himself, showing Misaki some of his knowledge in hopes that Misaki can use it to help Hikaru win.

Joe is from Japan, although he is actually half-Japanese. A delinquent youth, he escaped from a juvenile detention facility before being captured by Black Ghost.
