Zaraki's first name comes from the district he once resided in, Zaraki, which is district #80 of the North Alley of Rukongai. District #80 is the worst, most lawless region of Rukongai, full of thieves and murderers (whereas area #1 is the most orderly and law-abiding). While residing in District #80, Kenpachi was nameless. During that time, he became proficient in swordsmanship and killed numerous enemies. At some point during his travels outside of District #80, he found a small girl and named her Yachiru (八千流), in remembrance of the only person he ever admired, after she showed no fear of his sword. Yachiru came from area #79, Kusajishi (草鹿), where her parents were murdered. The two events were apparently quite close. On that day, he also took on a name: Kenpachi, the title bestowed upon the strongest swordsman, the one who has killed the most. The two developed a father-daughter-like relationship.

Also, at some point (before he became a Captain), he fought and defeated Ikkaku Madarame; for this reason, Ikkaku pledged to serve under Kenpachi from there on out (Ikkaku doesn't actually get the chance to do so until he joins the 11th Division), but Ikkaku would still jump at the chance to fight Kenpachi to the death. After some time had passed, Kenpachi found his way to the Seireitei. He defeated and killed the previous Captain of the 11th Division (whose identity is currently unknown) and gained his seat in the Gotei 13 in this manner. In the anime, his assumption of the Captain's seat caused Maki Ichinose to leave the Soul Society. According to the anime, it is also what convinced Ikkaku and Yumichika to join the Shinigami.

He trained Uryū and Ryūken in Quincy abilities throughout his childhood, becoming his mentor in the process. He was a kind old man whom Uryū admired. He preached an unusual variant of Quincy philosophy advocating cooperation with the Shinigami. Sōken tried to make amends with the Shinigami by advocating a new system of response to hollow attacks: Quincy would be the first-response squad, protecting humans from hollows until the Shinigami arrived to dispatch the hollow, thus maintaining the spiritual balance between the worlds that was being destroyed by the Quincy.     However, his proposal was never accepted, despite several attempts. He was eventually killed in a hollow attack, as the Shinigami arrived to late to save his life. During the rescue of Rukia Kuchiki, Mayuri Kurotsuchi reveals to Uryū that this was his doing; he delayed the Shinigami meant to protect Sōken so that he could study Sōken's soul for his research.     According to a reflection of a photograph seen in Uryu's glasses, all that was left of him in the end was his head. His death is the primary reason Uryū hates the Shinigami, although after learning of the conspiracy Uryū's hatred has become less for Shinigami in general than for Mayuri in particular, despite the fact that the Captain saved his life during the assault on Hueco Mundo. The main villain of the Blue Dragon game and a major villain in the first anime. Nene is an old man whose from a race of humanoids called Ancients. Nene runs Gran Kingdom and flies across the globe causing destruction and despair in a mobile air fortress surrounded by purple clouds. His main goal is world domination. Nene can fight without his shadow and suspend himself into the air, avoid energy blasts, and absorb others' shadow powers to increase his strength tenfold.[6] His mastery over his magic was so great that it caused an illness that led to him rapidly aging. To deal with this problem, he manipulated events that Shu, Jiro, Kluke, and Marumaro would each take a light sphere and learning to use magic so he could eventuall take their power and develop a stronger soul to cure his illness. He eventually succeeds in this plan, but they manage to retain their power. When eventually faced at the end of the game, he offers them a chance to join, specifically offering Shu a chance to be his successor. When Shu turns his offer down, Nene attempts to take their power again, but finds that their power had matured and become their own, so he couldn't take it. He is fought and defeated, and after which is killed by Zola. In &quot;Blue Dragon Plus,&quot; he is reborn and eventually helps Shu and the others to find the Balaur.    In the anime, Nene has been capturing children to power his artificial shadow machine. He overwhelmed Shu and Co. at first until Kluke manifested her Phoenix shadow and got them out of there. It is later revealed that he is a descendant of one of the Soldiers of Light. By the next encounter, Nene merged with his shadow and Deathroy and was destroyed by Shu and Blue Dragon.    Nene is the owner of the Chimera shadow which resembles a red dragon-like creature with orange hair and bird-like wings. In the video game, Nene's shadow was originally a red version of Blue Dragon. But after absorbing the light spheres that Shu and his friends swallowed, the dragon becomes Chimera (adopting features from all of the other shadows). In the anime, it was Deathroy who owns Chimera and Nene manipulates it.

Gozen (御前, Gozen) is the automatic doll Buso Renkin that is Ouka's &quot;other&quot; personality. Gozen acts as the main messenger between Papillon and Ouka, as Gozen's heart-shaped head ornament can receive and send messages and be used as a camera. Gozen is very hyperactive and loud (unlike Ouka) and has a tendency to shed pieces whenever Papillon does something strange. He also suffers from urinary incontinence when he is frightened, as demonstrated when Tokiko threatens to tear him apart for his sarcasm. 

Doctor Butterfly is the leader of LXE. His original name was Bakushaku Chouno  and he is the still-living great-great grandfather of Koshaku Chouno (Papillon). Dr. Butterfly has a moth-shaped mustache, and his battle outfit resembles a white version of Papillon&#039;s, with an attached a cape. He considers Papillon weak, saying he cannot go very far on his own, which leads Papillon to challenge him to a fight with their Buso Renkin.

Hong Gu (洪古, Hon Gu) is a military official who serves the High Eunuchs, but is aligned with Xingke&#039;s faction. Kaztano is person that is important to Togusa as he was the one who got him first place tickets to his favorite Idol Ruri Hijiribe, which were quite hard to obtain. It is believed that Kaztano is an Italian foreigner.   While he is an active minor character in the anime, Kaztano does not personally appear in the novels (his name was mentioned though).

Alvin was a grumpy, old man who was trying to live out the rest of his life in peace by himself at his cottage located somewhere in a valley. One day he discovers Byonko who asks him to join him in his fight fo king, however he declines which makes Byonko very upset. He is intrigued by the four leaf clover on Byonko's head calling it a "salad," and picks one of the leaves turning it permanently into a three leaf clover as a result Byonko gets more upset and cries even more.

In the anime, it is revealed that Maira, a former Pawn, became a Bishop by gaining the &Auml;RM Vaqua. He is not given a backround in the manga. Maira is a black-cloaked masked man who takes pleasure in engulfing and digesting people with Vaqua. Vaqua is a blue/green slime-like Guardian &Auml;RM with one eye. Maira is first seen watching the War Game battle between Ginta Toramizu and Garon. During the second round of the War Games, Maira reappears as a fighter for the Chess Pieces. He has the last of the battles in that round, and goes up against Dorothy.  Maira is quick to falsely judge Dorothy&#039;s power, though he easily destroys one of her weaker Guardians and stalemates another. Dorothy, however, calls back this one to bring about her favorite, Toto, which eats Maira&#039;s Vaqua.    Maira, now &Auml;RM-less, begs Dorothy for mercy. Dorothy, however, doesn&#039;t do as such and has Toto eat Maira as well, becoming the first casualty of the War Games.

Jiraiya is one of the three powerful ninjas originated from Konoha (village hidden in the leaves) and trained by the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi. His two team mates were Tsunade and Orochimaru. Later on, they became known as the Legendary Three Ninja, also known as "Sannin".

Jiraiya is also a full-pledged pervert. He adores good looking women and gets distracted by their sight often. He often gives the reason that he is doing research for his writing. Amongst other traits, he is a toad-tamer, with the ability to summon powerful toads at will to aid him in battle. He holds a key part in teaching and training Naruto.

Kaidou is a counterpuncher, noted by his stamina and retrieving most of the opponent's shot, using his physique to tire out his opponent first. While his playstyle becomes more aggressive as the series progresses, his original style is still evident in his matches.   ~!Kaidou is mostly known for his "Snake Shot" (derived from the "Buggy Whip Shot"), a curving forehand that keeps his opponents running. He later develops the "Boomerang Snake," which is a shot that swerves out of bounds, around the net pole, and back in bounds. He developed the shot under mentor Sadaharu Inui's advice and by working with him in doubles. He usually plays the Singles 3 position, though he is most often placed in one of the Doubles slots. In Genius 379, in the last chapter of the manga, Kaidou is seen as a third-year and the new captain of Seigaku, with Momoshiro as his sub-captain. Their rivalry has, apparently, somewhat mellowed with time.!~ As a kid, he cried a lot. When he was in kindergarten, he was often mistaken for a girl, called Kaoru-chan, and forced to wear a skirt.   

A respected Yakuza Lieutenant who works for The Big Boss, Suzuki returns to the town after a long absence with a mandate to clear out the streets of Treasure Town for a new development.
